my head cannon is that those kind of relationships would be expected, but not accepted. you cant possibly expect to have a teen who would possibly spend weeks in solitude while traveling while only having pokemon for company and not expect for them to have feelings for the. heck, some pokemon require affection to evolve, and would most likely be willing to fuck with them. and even if the trainer didn't act on their feelings, the pokemon would probably be the one to make the first move
