I hate to burst your bubble, OP (aka skater kid who received a cheap shot from a nigger with brass knucks). He's probably serving those concurrently, which means he'll only do a maximum of 6. Since it's a state charge, he'll most likely get half or even 2/3 for "good behavior" (which almost everyone gets). Which makes his sentence more likely 3 or even 2 years long (depending).
To make things worse, what I'm telling you is that even though he was sentenced to 6 years, something MANY prisons are doing these days for "minor" offenses like this is as soon as they process the inmate in, they are automatically paroled and placed on community supervision. So yes, he'll have a record indicating that he was in prison, but he may have spent as little as a single day in there. This shit actually happens, I'm not making it up.
