I would say that its comfier at night. Depends if you count the light you see during a dark rainstorm or snowstorm. That is good comfy that technically has light. But it also gives that isolation feeling one gets from night.

For me some is nostalgic, some is due to being very introverted, some is literally being comfortable physically.

For me, I don't tend to find that much comfy feels in childhood nostalgia. Like, I have nostalgia for certain things, but not really so much for the climate and settings I grew up in (and still live in), the dry, hot climate of central California, flat ground, and short little buildings.
I find the images that get me the most are often as far removed from where I grew up as possible. Like a small snowy Scandinavian town at night. Places with hills and vistas. A high-rise apartment with a balcony.
When looking at this images, despite them being places I've never been to or had any real prior connection to, I suddenly feel a sense of belonging and even some weird nostalgia for those places. Dunno why. But I guess that's why I don't mind variety in these threads.

For me it's night=sleep, sleep is very comforting. I really like my comfies to be cluttered, with elements that offer seclusion like bookshelves in corners, deep window sills, lot's of stuff on the wall, etc.
I think another big part of comfy is that the objects that make up the clutter show an unseen protagonists personality/interests, and they're things that make him/her happy.

I tend to like very recessed, indirect lighting. I've got a lamp where the lamp part blocks most of the light and so most of the room is lit by bounce lighting off the wall. Dim lighting, warm colors, and soft shadows = comfy night lighting for me.
