Strangely, although you'd expect some other padding to give the same effect in the end, it HAS to be diapers for me.

tried stacking diapers too, but the effect is not the same, the first diaper fills up and doesnt flow into the outer ones. Maybe if you only wanted the thickness
And stacking for me is too expensive, inserts are much cheaper
you can also try removing the plastic foil from the diaper to let if flow through, that might be better but im not sure how it would hold when you sit down and such

i've tried stacking too but it doesn't work. pee won't flow well to the outer ones as you said. tried a second time and made a hole in the inner diaper with scissors but the absorbent stuffing naturally falls out at some point and overall it just wasn't a nice experience. i guess i have to try some inserts next time because the thickness is a feeling i really enjoy.
