Yeah, the script petered out about halfway in, becoming rather tedious.

Waterworld is like Blade Runner for me. They built an interesting world and populated it with a few interesting people but the story they chose to tell was fucking boooooring.
>>
>pic kinda related, Pulp Fiction
Now its not "underrated" per se, but it isnt watched enough.
It gets all its praises, but its sort of that movie most people shove to the side for "later" cause of its good ratings but never actually commit time to it. I know, cause i was one of said people. Once j finally decided to watch it, it was fantastic. I have a borring story to go with it, but if you havent watched this movie yet, give it a try.
Its a, what i would call, a "neo-noir-esque comedy", told by the one and only Quentin Tarantino.

Tl;dr not underrated, more of under-watched; watch it if you havent, you faggots

The plot twist in this one came a way too close to the ending, no time for the viewer to combine it with the storyline so far and be able to understand the message behind it when the credits begin.
But yes, it was not a bad movie, after all. I've seen worse centered around the same issues
>>
>>748087317
Disagree, first time watching this - blew my mind.

So fresh compared to equivalent releases!

Great film!

I like it. Everyone I've talked to about it didn't.

The scene were Ripley is about to be raped and the guy about to do the deed put his goggles on. I thought that was just unnecessarily bizarre.

This movie was shit. Some mexican pilot flys in all face marked and a painted ship... WHEN the fuck did she have time to do a custom paint job on her ship?
Not only that, WHY didn't the cripple guy just fucking EXPLAIN to the blue Indians that the humans wanted their rock shit, i mean, that was his SOLE job to do, instead he spends all his time trying to fuck a blue chick, and sticking his hair dick in weird and exotic space animals.

This movie was shit on story.

Great movie, too bad it has bad pacing and the twist wasn't pulled off well enough. Still, can highly recommend it as well.

Good horror with a genuine sense of dread throughout and an ending done well. Action was bad, though and they fucked up by showing what it does with its victims.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Mr. Nobody. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Nobody's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Mr. Nobody truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Nobody's existencial catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools... how I pity them. And yes by the way, I DO have a Jared Leto tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

The only use this movie has is when someone tells me they like it, I know they're a pretentious faggot.

Serious, I genuinely gave it a chance. I sat all the way through it. But at the end, even though I really tried to find something to like about it just so I could prove to myself that I'd given it a fair shot, all it amounted to was a movie that was boring and unbelievably self-indulgent.

Some of the special effects were interesting, but I think they would have done a lot better if they'd made their artsy movie about non-artsy people.

Love In Bruges.

>You're a fucking inanimate object
>>
I've been watching this thread for awhile now and researching alot of the movies that look like they appeal to me.
This is the list I've got so far:

Movie 43
From the twisted minds of producers Peter Farrelly (Hall Pass, Shallow Hal) and Charles Wessler (There's Something About Mary, Dumb & Dumber), comes Movie 43-- the outrageous new ensemble comedy starring some of the biggest names in Hollywood. Movie 43 is not for the easily-offended and contains jaw-dropping, sometimes shockingly disturbing, but always entertaining intertwined storylines you'll have to see to believe. (c) Official Site
Seeking a Friend for the End of the World
stars Golden Globe Award winner Steve Carell and Academy Award nominee Keira Knightley and is the feature directorial debut of screenwriter Lorene Scafaria. Set in a too-near future, the movie explores what people will do when humanity's last days are at hand. As the respective journeys of Dodge (Mr. Carell) and Penny (Ms. Knightley) converge, the two spark to each other and their outlooks - if not the world's - brighten. -- (C) Focus

Gerry
Two young friends who call each other "Gerry" drive off into the wilderness to hike in a remote area. After losing their way in the forbiddingly beautiful terrain, they rely on humor and confidence to propel them forward. But when the gravity of their situation takes hold, their strength and prospects for survival wane as the two men face the ultimate test.

1408
Renowned horror novelist Mike Enslin believes only in what he can see with his own two eyes. But after a string of bestsellers discrediting paranormal events in the most infamous haunted houses and graveyards around the world, he has no real proof of life...afterlife. But Enslin's phantom-free run of long and lonely nights is about to change forever when he checks into suite 1408 of the notorious Dolphin Hotel for his latest project, "Ten Nights in Haunted Hotel Rooms." Defying the warnings of the hotel manager, the author is the first person in years to stay in the reputedly haunted room. Another bestseller may be imminent, but first he must go from skeptic to true believer--and ultimately survive the night.
Chungking Express
Quinten Tarentino recommended this.
Wong Kar-Wai's movie about two love-struck cops is filmed in impressionistic splashes of motion and color. The first half deals with Cop 223, who has broken up with his girlfriend of five years. He purchases a tin of pineapples with an expiration date of May 1 each day for a month. By the end of that time, he feels that he will either be rejoined with his love or that it too will have expired forever. The second half shows Cop 663 dealing with his breakup with his flight attendant girlfriend. He talks to his apartment furnishings until he meets a new girl at a local lunch counter.

Requiem for a Dream
Based on the novel by Hubert Selby Jr., this gritty drama concerns four people trapped by their addictions. Harry (Jared Leto), and his best friend Tyrone (Marlon Wayans) are impoverished heroin addicts living in Coney Island, NY, while Harry's girlfriend Marion (Jennifer Connelly) is a fellow addict trying to distance herself from her wealthy father. Harry dreams of scoring a pound of smack, from which he could make enough money to open a clothing boutique with Marion, but so far he and his friends can barely scrape by supporting their own habits. Meanwhile, Harry's mother Sara (Ellen Burstyn), who spends her days watching television, is told she has the opportunity to appear on her favorite game show; wanting to lose enough weight to fit into her favorite red dress, she visits a sleazy doctor who gives her a prescription for amphetamines. Soon Sara has a drug habit of her own that is spiraling out of control. Requiem for a Dream was directed by Darren Aronofsky, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Selby; it was Aronofsky's second feature,

Spun
An energetic cast and hyperkinetic direction from music-video wiz Jonas Akerlund drive this black comedy about the world of methamphetamine addicts and dealers. Jason Schwartzman stars as a dropout hired to work for a speed merchant (Mickey Rourke). Former Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan composed the music and has a cameo as the Doctor.

The Road
"The Road" is a post-apocalyptic dramatic thriller about a father and his son walking alone through burned America. Nothing moves in the ravaged landscape save the ash on the wind. It is cold enough to crack stones, and when the snow falls it is gray. The sky is dark. Their destination is the coast, although they don't know what, if anything, awaits them there. They have nothing; just a pistol to defend themselves against the lawless bands that stalk the road, the clothes they are wearing, a cart of scavenged food -- and each other.

The Bay
Two million fish washed ashore. One thousand blackbirds dropped from the sky. On July 4, 2009 a deadly menace swept through the quaint seaside town of Claridge, Maryland, but the harrowing story of what happened that Independence Day has never been told - until now. The authorities believed they had buried the truth about the tragedy that claimed over 700 human lives. Now, three years later, a reporter has emerged with footage revealing the cover-up and an unimaginable killer: a mysterious parasitic outbreak. Told from the perspective of those who were there and saw what happened, The Bay unfolds over 24 hours though people's iPhones, Androids, 911 calls, web cams, and whatever else could be used to document the nightmare in Claridge. -- (C) Official Site

The nigger really hated cotton, so he tried to get people to grow peanuts and sweet potatoes instead by any means necessary.

Figured out a way to make a fried chicken substitute out of peanuts and sweet potatoes.
