Lost my two old friends last year, and the year before that.
A big fat fluffy tortie, full of life and loved to be squished and rubbed and carried around. She would do silly things just to make me laugh, and would imitate seagulls!
A little petite tabby, she was shy but selfless, every night for ten years she would spoon my legs through my bed, every school day she would trot after me as I walked to school, and be there waiting for me at the garden wall to escort me home.
I will always remember my funny little friends, if you give a cat a little patience and food, they repay you tenfold.

my friends have two tuxedo cats (brothers) that they named Cuervo and Bacardi.
still have no idea why. my guess is their parents thought it was funny and it just sort of stuck.
they have another that looks sort of like a maine coon, but with shorter hair. they named him Ack-Ack because that's the sound he makes. for whatever reason, he can't meow normally. he just makes this little 'ack' noise. they had him checked out and the vet said nothing was wrong with him.
he was a stray when they found him, so maybe something happened that he healed from?

See if there is anybody in town spaying/neutering strays for free. If not, there may be somebody ding t for a small cost, approach the old ladies with your problem, offer to trap and take the cats in to be fixed if they'll pay for it.

Spice was fearless (or at least he didn't let his fear get in the way of protecting his family). He would go after anyone who came too much into our yard: foxes, raccoons, male deer, he'd even chase fully grown cows.
He wouldn't be mean about it, but if they got too close to our house then any other animal was definitely going to get run off.
The only time I ever, ever saw him back down was when the intruder in the yard was FOUR fully grown cows. Then he was willing to stay on the porch - until I came to help, then he was after them!
A 12-lb cat vs thousands of pounds of beef...the poor cows didn't stand a chance.
