Can't do shit for hardware degradation or your no doubt shit battery, but if you've never had any major work done cleaning your file system, it may help.
Been debating doing that to my five year old tower for a while now. As a few things don't load quite as well as I want.
Also, simply going through your processes tab and finding out what's running that shouldn't tends to help.
Cleaning out old programs/drivers etc.
But factory reset is the quick easy solution. 3 hours tops to get things back in order.
