All what? Gun w/ 2 mags is pretty standard. Knife gets used on a daily basis. Flashlights do as well, and batteries run down. Flash drive is necessary. Wallet and cell phone are necessary. Multitool was used > 20 times today alone.

Good one, friend.

I'm a well-adjusted 25 y/o off-duty Advanced-EMT with a fiancee. I don't think my EDC makes her love me any less. She carries a glock 42 in a belly band holster.

>>745682904
Most everything besides the guns are used daily by people who like work with their hands, and the gun is a right to Americans. Luckily, nobody makes you do everything. Some people just prefer to be more capable at any given notice.

>>
>>745683538
You've got the right answer on people who work with their hands. I spent half of today under desks or working inside computers. Tools are necessary, half the day is night on average, and there are always people out there who need shooting.

OP here.
Knife is a few months old since switchblades used to be illegal here. Phone is 3 days old. The flashlight has anodization wear, the LCR barrel area has plenty of residue from being fired this month if you zoom in and see its brown/dull looking, and there is wear on the wallet.

I also rotate out knives because I have quite a few in the carry rotation.

>>
>>745684697
You don't get it. We don't live in fear. Your projection doesn't come close to understanding why someone would carry a gun. Do you have a fire extinguisher? Smoke detector? Does your car (if you have one) tell you when your tires are low?
>>
>>745684580
Thanks, loved it.

>>745684406
>>745685138
Here's the thing - carrying a gun is not something one does "out of fear". You don't understand the depth of your own emotional projection. We have all of those safety steps in our lives, and more by choice. It is a small piece of insurance to give a fighting chance in the small chance something fucked happens. There is no place in the world completely devoid of random violence. It has factually been dropping consistently for decades in the US (outside of publicicized incidents and lefty-metros)

>>745686000
It's probably hopeless trying to get through to them. We disagree w/ their world view, therefore we are wrong. They probably haven't seen enough of the world if they think there are safe places. I've run across half a dozen thugs armed with switchblades on a train in Europe. A gun would have been an excellent backup.
>>
>>745686166
That kind of proves my point. Instead of a rational argument you make childish accusations that are completely unrelated to the available evidence. Projecting much?

get a 9mm semi-auto if you are really serious about carrying a gun for protection.

>>745684820

>>
>>745687711
Not sure I'd be super comfortable with one in the chamber and a SA trigger (or a light DA). Figured a heavy DA on a revolver would be good.
>>

>I also rotate out knives because I have quite a few in the carry rotation.
You are such a cringecow loser, im going to use that absolutely faggotous line to start bait threads from now on
>>
>>745687630

In what universe do people carry at most a multitool? Are you talking hipsters in skinny jeans that say they work with their hands, or the guy who needs a tool now instead of the tool bag which is 100 yards away in his truck? I've got more tools in the truck. I just rarely need them.
>>
>>745687813
>Not sure I'd be super comfortable with one in the chamber
then you should not carry a gun until you get more practice/experience.

>>
>>745688241

>>
>>745688083
what fair to say is they should not be carrying a gun yet, for everyone's sake.
>>

The .357's are not bad with any of the grips with Hogue Tamers. Just use the lighter weight bullets too. I shoot 125gr .357's no issue. Bit many great carry guns exist that have good striker triggers or are dao. No more dangerous than a snub. Personal preference really.

>>745687630
Opinion - the post.

>>745687735
Plenty of armed bad people that start shooting get killed by average joes. They don't rack up a killcount because they died right there. CCW is for in-the-moment proximity, not chasing down th the perp like a retard hero after he's already got a 6-0 KD spread.

I used the knife, multitool, and flashlight today. All of them. There is this phenomena called "lack of light." Perhaps you'd know of it if you got out of your mom's basement or if she turns the light off on you. Other than that, opening boxes, cutting zip ties, and generally opening/closing things w/ screwdrivers and pliers. Those are daily events.

>>
>>745688472
I don't have time for people who might actually carry a gun, but aren't taking the initiative to be trained well enough to know why that's retarded. And if he's carrying a gun, he shouldn't be a delicate snowflake.

Seems like the multitool has that all covered, like i said. Flashlight already on the phone bro. Nice try tittyboy.
>>
>>745688637

Boxes and other packages are the biggest thing, but it's a general use tool. I cut hoses w/ it, flexible conduit, scrape things, and otherwise abuse it. Last thing I used it for was touching up the edge on a kitchen knife when I was fixing dinner tonight.

Objectively right.

Wrong. If those reasons are why someone is uncomfortable carrying worth a round chambered, they need more training, period. A heavy pull won't fix that. A poor workman blames his tools. You can't seriously be arguing against that. Anyone who also considers or advocates finger fucking around trying to chamber a round in a cc self defense situation is at best misinformed and retarded.

It's not carrying a gun to feel safe. It's carrying a gun to protect myself and my family. I know there is no place on earth that is "safe," but you take what precautions you feel are necessary for the risks that concern you. A gun doesn't weight much and doesn't cost me anything to carry. It might save my life. It might give me a choice of how I die instead of having no choice. It will probably just weight my pants down and wear holes in my pockets. I'm ok with that. My goal is to make it through my life and never need it.

I dont think you quite understood what I was saying here. I'm not saying people should carry an auto without a round in the chamber. People carry revolvers for the reason I stated all the fucking time, not everyone wants to carry an auto for fuck sakes.
>>
>>745691095
Nope. I live in the US, and the risks are small, but the consequences can be extreme if you don't have it when you need it. Why do you care? It doesn't involve you?

I compare a gun to a fire extinguisher because you have it to counter a threat. I have a gun to deal with animals or people which threaten me. I have fire extinguishers to put out fires. Bullet proof (resistant) vests aren't going to stop a problem. You don't stop someone shooting at you by hoping they run out of ammo before they shoot you in the head.

They don't typically circulate past local news, state news in smaller states. Big media doesn't think you need/want to see it. Feel free to search around. Defensive Gun Use statistics and number of recorded incidents are surprisingly high. As an AEMT I've responded to 2, never made the big news.
>>
>>745691760
Lol, I'm not trained at all. I dont own a gun, like I said earlier. I'm merely asking questions and stating facts, like people carry revolvers for the reason I said all the time, and your training has fuck all to do with that fact. Sure, maybe more training would make them feel comfortable with carrying an auto, but there are millions of people who carry revolvers. Again, no need to be an elitist.
>>
>>745691635
Well put. But there's no use explaining this to anyone who doesn't understand it.
>>
>>745691820
Hang around with shooters enough and you'll hear some. Read National Rifleman and you'll read about more. You're not looking if you're not hearing about them, and the beauty of carrying a gun is that it's doing it's job just being there. It's like the fire extinguisher I mentioned above. You have it in the hopes you won't need it, but if you need it there's no substitute.

it's 4chan, people post here, people respond, that's the point.

Sorry, guess I should have known how shoot outs work, since those happen in life all the time by outstanding law abiding citizens who just want to practice their second amendment right.

it's not going to happen, here's how guns work. the dude who shoots first wins. you die. people who are going to shoot at a distance, will practice shooting. those who don't would probably pull one on you to mug you etc... at that point they are close range and you die.

i just want a valid scenario where you don't pull out your gun first and it's self defense. (defending your house doesn't require a hand gun in a pocket which is how this thread started, so don't use that one which is valid)
>>
>>745692108
That isn't why someone should choose a revolver over something else...
>>
>>745691760

>>
>>745692329
I said I was looking into DA revolvers and, because I dont have the training, said I wasnt sure if an auto would be a swell choice, especially since it'd deep carry. A revolver is a sure 5 shots.
>>
>>745691939
explain those situations. you sound like a real bad ass.
>>
>>745692297

You know you're wrong don't you? Most people shot with handguns live. They're not a magic death ray, and there's a reason for a failure to stop drill or mozambique drill. It's also harder than you think to hit a target under stress. I'll take my chances with the criminals and put my training and gear against their's. What the worst thing that happens? I die? If I'm shooting I would probably already be dead without it.
>>

>>
>>745692525
Mostly sure. You can generally fix a problem w/ a semi auto w/ tap rack bang. With a revolver, you can pull the trigger again, but if it's tied up where it won't rotate you're probably done until you get some tools and time to fix it.
>>
>>745692717
so you get shot, you have the state of mind to shoot back? you think at the point you pull a gun out of your pocket they don't start shooting more?

the part about stress, you get shot first, it's very hard for you to shoot them back.

That includes recognizing situations and avoiding, all the way up to weapons use. Revolvers are fine man. It's just not as important. At all.

From my experience under stress I'd say the odds are in my favor I shoot back. You're also assuming standing there shooting at each other like it's some kind of revolutionary war battle. And you're assuming they hit. Have you seen the percentage of hits in a lot of gunfights?
That also covers why you carry extra ammo.
At least partially. Cover and distance are your friend when dealing with that type of situation. Both of those reward training over luck by making it harder for them to hit you.
>>
>>745693071
>Had someone pull a gun on me at the range.
Fucking irony right there.

Exactly, no place is safe, a gun doesn't make you any more safe, it can escalate a situation in ways you can't predict that can fuck up your life more than avoiding bad situations.

I have had a gun pulled on me multiple times, each time, I could just walk away or talk them down so I wasn't shot. Didn't once need a gun or to fight to walk away.
>>
>>745692986
You don't fire from the pocket. You carry it in the pocket, or on your belt. You draw and fire. The beauty of pocket carry is you can walk w/ your hand in your pocket if necessary and already have a firing grip on the gun where it's fast and easy to draw if necessary.
>>
>>745682356
Why do you carry so many spare rounds for your revolver? do you have some Revolver Ocelot fantasy anon?
You should really get something you can realistically reload like an LCP or a little Walther if you're not a poorfag.

Cover? Like.... a tactical situation? I feel like people have very active imaginations of what getting a gun pulled on you is like. Or what situation causes you to need a gun in the first place. I don't think it's a normal reaction to think you need to carry a gun in your pocket.

To have one in your car, your house or otherwise sure. But in your pocket? That's just insecurity.
>>
>>745693379
A gun makes me more safe. It gives me options. It also makes the criminals around here less likely to attack people because they know a significant percentage of us carry guns, and they don't know which ones.

Lots of them. Kydex holsters w/ leather backing work well, but if you carry very long you'll find it's better to wear an undershirt so you have it between you and the gun.
>>
>>745693462
they have to because they are retarded because they chose to trust their life to a gun with shit ammo capacity when they could get a semi-auto and carry 2x the ammo without having to reload. it's like buying a car with only a 5 gallon gas thank, of course you now have to carry a couple jerry cans of gasoline or youre fucked.
>>
>>745693688
I believe it makes us safer from invasion, but criminals who are willing to pull a gun on people are generally stupid and don't have a plan. Smart criminals don't want extra charges brought on them if caught.

Cover like training. There is cover all around you. There is also concealment, and there is a difference. There is also movement that will take you to cover, and a target which is moving side to side or at an angle is much harder to hit. If you're alert it's possible sometimes to set yourself up with cover before it all blows up. Practice, training, and luck.

literally this.
I carry a pistol in my car because I live in a rural area and there are hogs and coyotes and shit and if you break down and have to walk at night you don't want to be staring down a bobcat and have nothing to hit it with. Imagine a vicious pitbull on a kid and everyone's hitting it with bats and rocks and etc and no one can stop it. I've seen it. No one had a gun to kill it almost immediately and the kid almost died before the dog could be subdued when a man brought a fire axe out of a cabin. arguably the pistol could have been used to the same effect but if you're a frail old lady you're not going to be able to swing an axe at a big dog like that, so we have guns.
I'm not the biggest guy, even though I'm pretty big, so I carry a gun.

education just makes it easier to get a job, which generally leads to a better life and less hardship. defining intelligence is fairly hard, all of humanity is very fucking stupid, the fact we give such credit to our own intelligence is just hubris, so trying to go that subjective route rather than giving them credit for being diligent and putting effort in makes less sense to me.
