I work with a guy who was born in NYC, his parents were born in NYC, his grandparents were born in NYC. But his GREAT grandparents on both sides of his family were born in China. Is he American? He speaks only English, he served in Afghanistan, he volunteers at his local church, etc. But by this picture's logic, he's not an American.
