My father studied fine art in the 60's. In studio they tried to replicate a Pollock, dripping paint on canvases. Nothing they did even came close. An artist's brush strokes and distribution of pallet are as unique as handwriting.

I have to agree. Basquiat was way late on the abstract expressionist bandwagon, and he incorporated one of the most vapid forms of art (gaffitti) into it. It was like a child imitating De Kooning, sucking all the life out of it, and turning it into juvenile cave drawings.
