Loads of beans. Most any type are good, and I think they really are cheaper than dirt. You can flavor them with shitty cheap pork leftovers like "ham hocks" while they're cooking, and still eat the meat off the hock if you're desperate.
Don't buy vegetables in bulk, they'll go bad fast and you'll waste money

In Britain we have a shop called ALDI.
My food bill came to around £32, that included: Chicken, mince, sausage, frozen veg, frozen veg medley, chips, butter, bread, etc. Few tins of soup, snacks etc.
That lasts me a while to be honest. I don't see the issue.

Kwik Trip gas stations have lots of staples for stupid cheap (potatoes, onions, bananas, etc). Their employees also seem to have a good opinion of the company.
Frozen veggies are a good value, and they're often fresher and more nutritious than "fresh" produce that's been shipped from chile or across the US.

sorry totally clueless about this so this is a genuine question. How can you grow wheat? Don't you need like a fucking huge field to get enough amount of flour out of it? Or what do you use it for? How can you prepare it? I assume you don't have a mill.

Find a couple of discount grocers in your area and figure out what they stock. Generally speaking the more basic the amenities the less expensive everything will be for you.
Buy non-perishables and long shelf life in bulk:
Potatoes, rice, pasta, onions, carrots, oil, sugar, flour, beans.
If you have a freezer bulk purchase less expensive meats like chicken and pork and zip lock them in meal-sized portions.
Learn about spices and how they work so your food doesn't suck.
General rule of thumb: if it comes in a box or only needs to be heated to eat it's not worth buying.

Moar veggies.
Lentils or beans are pretty darn filling, and superduper cheap. A small bag of dry beans that you boil turns into tons and tons of beans.
Get a few decent recipies.
Try this on: Fry an onion and some garlic. Boil red lentils in crushed tomatoes+water, togheter with the onion and garlic. Add some salt, peppar and maybe a dash of chili and/or oregano.
The number 1 trick I can recommend is buy rotissierie chickens from Costco. A whole, cooked chicken is $4.99 - less than you can buy an uncooked one for. My family of four will have that with rice or something that costs basically nothing one day, then after I've pulled all the meat off I make stock out of the carcass. THEN I make something called Farmhouse Chicken Chowder - just search for a recipe with that name - we love it. So out of the $5 chicken plus about $5 of other ingredients we can eat for like 3 days.
Another recipe I make from chicken stock is called Bean Counter Chowder. It's totally cheap. Find that one online. Dirt cheap because it uses a lot of canned beans.
Also eggs are very cheap protein - especially from Trader Joe's or Aldi. Learn how to take advantage of this fact.
Learn to make your own flour tortillas - it's fast and dirt cheap and you'll never want to buy them from the store again.
No-knead bread. Takes about 7 minutes of effort and is better than most bread you can buy at the store. You have to wait overnight for it to rise, but it's way worth it. See if you can find an episode of Good Eats called "Going Dutch" and watch that.
Learn to make pizza. Search for the recipe for Imo's St Louis style pizza because it's awesome and you don't have to make a yeast dough. Then once you've mastered that learn how to make a yeast dough because you're not a loser. The ability to produce a quality pizza in a regular kitchen is a seriously badass skill and a large-ish pizza costs about $5 or less to make and kicks little ceasar's ass all over the place.

Now here I am with a decent job and tiny living expenses (because I'm used to being poor so I stay frugal) and they're asking me for money.
And you see this shit all the time in poor communities. Oh, Cleatus White needs the government to keep himself fed, but the fucker can still drink bud light and smoke while he bitches about the damn democrats?

Dumpster diving.
I got around $3000 of food, cleaning products, cheap electronics, clothes, chocolates, random stuff just sitting around my house. Mostly food. I have to throw out $200+ worth of food a week because I can't eat it faster than it spoils.
Also you can try food stamps.
lentil soup 80 cents
water 29 cents
some cheap bread for 80 cents
30 bucks for month
I actually do this as a way to save money through the school year. I spend about 20-25$ a week, but it's on me not a family, but I do buy more non necessities.
So the break down as long as I go to the shitside of town is:
4$ -1lb of lunch meat. Usually ham
2$ - loaf of bread, lasts about a week
3$ - chips to go with the sandwich
5$ - 12 pack of coke (not a necessity)
With the remaining 11$ or so I get variety, so usually ramen to intermix with the sandwiches.
Ramen is usually a dollar a pop, maybe a bit more but i usually grab
3$-3x ramen
3$/ can of soup
Usually only go with Campbells which are usually a dollar more expensive than off brand so with the remaining budget I get 2 of those.
So grand total is like 25$
Which usually gets me through the week at 2 meals a day. I live in California, so cost of living is generally higher here
>>714670307

As a semi-pro dumpster diver I highly don't recommend this.
Find a supermarket dumpster instead that doesn't have hobos nearby unless you want to get stabbed or something.
I currently take in like $1000+ per WEEK of dumpster diving from just 2 dumpsters nearby.
Tons of milk, cheese, eggs, rice, pasta, cereal, insane ungodly amounts of food. And most of the fruit I take I throw out because one person can't eat 8 lbs of apples or 15 heads of lettuce. I've even got a box of Nicaraguan cigars sitting downstairs. $4 a piece retail value, I paid nothing.
Trust me, OP. Dumpster diving is the way to go. But under no circumstances do you ever do it in restaurant dumpsters. Supermarket and pharmacy dumpsters only. If you're lucky you'll find a small alcohol shop that throws out war beer/vodka. If you don't mind cooling it down and mixing with juice for taste, you can get free alcohol.

>2.20ish for the bean soup mix (2 pounds comes with flavor packet)
>3.20ish for their brand of sausage or bratwurst (one pound, maybe a little under. i cut them into about 8-10 pieces each with kitchen scissors)
>.90 cents for a can of diced tomatoes
>1.00 for a lemon and a large yellow onion together
>.27 cent refill of purified water at the machine (my tap water tastes funny)
About $8 after tax. I just follow the "quick directions" on the package of soup exactly and in 3 hours I've got so much fucking soup. It reheats well in my opinion, and it really is stretched if you want to dip some crackers in.

This reminds me of my cousin. She was a registered nurse making some serious bank by working crazy hours at $32 per hr. She had the nice big house with the pool. And had the best fucking parties.
Unfortunately she got pretty bad arthritis in her late 20's. I used to think that only old people got that shit. Well, it affected her job. she can't do much with her hands anymore. And now the house is gone, and she lives on government handouts. She end up moving back with her parents too. It's fucking sad seeing her like that.

whats wrong with grinding your meat? i personally have only tried beating my meat, but you can have the butcher grind any meat you want in the store for free, not just beef meat too.

More girls need torpedo tits
they're my favorite shape and google doesn't understand what I mean when I try to look them up. What other shape could they be called?
All kinds of people in this thread shitting on the limes, but it's a cheap way to get vitamin C. All those limes were probably less than $1.50.
