For us, or me at least, both outbox and JUSTIFIED abuse/torture are good. If a final is killed for its mother telling a human it did something, though it didn't, then I feel bad for the foal and want the mare to be punished. If a coal is flicked on the nose or given the stick for being rude, then that's justified. I feel that the crime should fit the punishment. A mother abuses her foals because of color? Paint the best one brown or give better care to the brown ones while she watches.
