BIOS settings is fast. Restart the computer holding whatever key it is for your computer, see the settings, disable camera and microphone. Doesn't get any simpler than that and it's 100% effective. Tape does nothing.

Yeah, I've had my camera app on my computer just open on it's own before. Scared the crap out of me so I closed everything right away. I've also have a relative that had it take a picture and threaten to email everyone they know their picture with something to black mail them. A friend's kid that I know had her iphone camera take a picture of her and email it out to some unknown address. The picture wasn't anything nude or incriminating but it could have been.
