Fill it completely with diesel/gas (whichever kind it doesn't take). Not a "it happens as it gets older" kinda thing, but it's a pretty common mistake.

Squirt water or perhaps a smelly liquid in aircon
Remove trim and put it back on, it wont fit as tight as before

Metal shavings in the oil if you have access otherwise water in the gas tank. This will look age related
