Also, what you see now are the statistical outliers, not the millions which went to the shredder. 1950s and 1960s autos are nice art, easy to work on, and need the work (carbs, points ignitions, etc) often to stay on the road. EFI has saved me many carb overhauls and I'm a mechanic. Nostalgia is fun but tech is better and cars last LONGER than they used to.
