Hey OP. Fellow femanon here. I always carry a knife in my pocket and keep 911 ready on my phone. I have to go out late at night to walk my dogs and live in a very unsafe neighbourhood. I've never used it but I have pulled it out and showed it from a distance a few times when I figured out I was being followed. They back off when they see the knife. Also I would recommend NOT to carry a handbag, it makes you an easy target and keeping the weapon in there won't help anything. I would recommend keeping cash in your pocket and your phone as well.
