In my experience they try to find illegitimate ways to debase you or try to pass off their errors as yours. I've had a supervisor move my work to a hidden spot and tell my university auditing person I was neglecting my duties. I've had a co-worker ignore 300,000 worth of invoices because they have no degree and don't understand what they are doing, and pass it off as something I did. After that, they all practically disappeared from my life, only reappearing in about 2011 after I had started a FB.
