A curious question for the Atheist of 4Chan.

I'll hear some of you guys and gals say stuff like..

>Well the reason i'm an Atheist is because being an Atheist is based on Science while being a Christian is based on Faith

Like yea.. i get it i really do.. I mean where we're you when the Earth was created by god..? No where i'm pretty sure... but where we're you when a Reptile turned into a Mammal?.. so in that regard you are putting in Faith in something you didn't see happen.

And to add to all of this.. How did the Bible know the Earth was round and floated upon nothing before any modern man? And how did the Bible know the Ocean contains springs before any modern man? And how did the Bible know that the wind blows in cyclones before any modern man..? Etc.. Etc.. Etc .
>Pic related

And when you really think about it... the BigBang came from nothing... It just supposedly happened all by it's self.. what makes more sense to you..

The BigBang came from nothing.. or the BigBang come from someone? (If that even is how God went about creating the Universe)
Cause and effect.

And before you say then How did God get here..? who created Him? Think of it like this..

He has always been here before anything existed, he was the nothing, he was the void, he was the Alpha and the Omega.

But to avoid this comment from getting to long... i ask you... why are you an Atheist..? Please let this be a friendly thread.. not one full of arguing and nonsense.

I am an agnostic because there no proof for god's existence. And even if it was god, then why should it be YOUR god? For instance, i can think, that everything was created by The Flying Spaghetti Monster, and you couldn't prove it wasn't without faith.
>>
>>712867601
Too many reasons to list , but biggest reason is religion is obviously used to control people.
>>
>>712868586
This was a question pointed towards Atheist, not other people of Faith.

That would be a whole different Conversation/Thread on it's own.
>>
>>712868687
Control? And who's Religion are you talking about? There any many Religion's on this Earth.. Some Religions guide others.. while others use it as a form of control.. like perhaps Isis or some kinda cult *Shrugs*
>>
Religion is used to control people. Christianity specifically is the biggest and most ingenious scam of all time. You go give you're time and way of life to a god you can't see, then hand him your hard earned money for doing literally nothing.
>>
>>712868902
When you say Religion that's a very wide array, there any many Religions, can you be more specific?
>>
>>712868714
But what I'm saying is, that I can think of whatever I want instead of god. For instance, I think, that the big bang is the continuous event, and always was. I can believe it is, I can even calculate it is.
>>
>>712869016

I think he means every religion except Christianity and he's right. Religion has been used to manipulate people to turn their backs of God and worship false idols.
>>
>>712868833
You are right there are many religions that are basically just stories to explain stuff. But if thinking about your religion consumes a large portion of your day it is controlling you
>>

All of them idiot
>>
>>712869155
Oh ok, i see what you mean, i agree, when we getting into the topic of "Gods" it can be confusing.

But i still stand with what i previously say.

This thread is more aimed at Atheist or people who believe there is nothing out there.

What you're talking about it the possibility of other God's.

And it would truly be a whole conversation/Thread on it's own, something like that can't be answered in a comment, i'd hit the Text limit ages ago if i did. haha

Science is provable and testable. That's how it works and how we understand things like evolution. The same is not true for the Bible, or at least most of the things in it that are testable have been proven false. E.g. age of the earth.
>>
>>712869312

Except Christianity, gotcha!

I absolutely agree with you, so many people have used religions like Islam or Atheism for political gain rather than to guide people towards the teachings of Christ. It has shown how easily brainwashed some people are.

Idiot? resorting to ad hominem attacks?..

Very well.

But that's very incorrect when you say "All of them"
Some guide others towards God, helping them understand, and then there is other cult like groups who try to TRULY control others.. and i mean truly control people such as The Jonestown Massacre.

I could provide a link to the story if you're not familiar.

But i wouldn't say the majority of Religions control people.. And even if they where controlling people.. what would be there purpose for doing so..? To get rich...? or to have an evil army of the people who serve God..?
>>
Atheism is generally just a product of fear of unkown.

Instead of using philosophy and psychology in order to explain what's beyond what we can really understand. They deny the existence of everything that cannot be measured or explained.

Effectively confining themselves into tiny little box they feel safe.

You can believe in your personal life whatever you want, but completely refusing the existence of god and afterlife would mean, you're just meaningless pile of flesh without any purpose in life.

Pretty sure this is bait but here is some food for thought.
Consider this: tracing the origins of the universe we get to the big bang. But who created the big bang? God? But God is someone who is only known after mankind is made, or at least I consider it this way. Hence what came first? God or universe? Can God exist outside the universe?
>>

It's not bait, and i understand where you are coming from, but why would you assume the BigBang came from nothing..? Wouldn't it be more logical that someone was behind it all?

God doesn't exist or can't interfere in our lives,
because no n-dimension existence can't interfere the 3rd dimension, except n=3.
In 3 dimensions we monitor everything physical that has effect on earth and our lives.
That means, God is an idea. But an idea of god, to be true, should be proven and believed by all. That, as you know, is not the case.

Come on, argue

>>
>>712867601

First of all, your picture is retarded. I am not even going to comment on the failure of a attempt to discredit science.

Evolution isn't about lizard > mammal. Its about the smallest form of life changing over billions of years from bacteria to w/e the fuck it is now. The life entities may have not even been from this planet to begin with back when the earth was formed. Evolution isn't view able right now like your simple mind would like. You will never see a species of lizard evolve into a snake in your lifetime. Huge chabges take 30+ thousand years. You can see beaks of birds and the foot structure in animals change. If a area is getting colder, the offspring with more hair or where able to handle cooler temperatures will thrive and over the course of a 1000 years you will see a slightly furry animal get a coat of fur.

No one knows how the "Big Bang" happened or even if its true. It is a scientific theory with many door ways. This is how science works, you figure shit out. You don't just point at a book and close your eyes and "embrace god". That doesn't cure cancer, or complete organ transplants.

I am agnostic and i lean closer to atheism than god. I will say this though. You can't prove their is or isn't a god. So don't even argue about it. Let the people who want to praise the lord do so and let the people who wants to ask questions and figure shit out do so in peace.

At the end of the day, all current religion will be part of the Mythology class people will be taking in space college 400 years from now.

>>
I did not directly observe the creation of earth, or a lizard evolving into a new species, however, unlike with Christianity, there is scientific evidence that points to how and why these things happened. I choose not to believe in God because I see no evidence for his existence outside of the Bible, while I can see evidence for many scientific theories being correct.

Even in the Big Bang Theory, the bang itself didn't come from nowhere, but this is an area if science that we simply don't know much about yet. For me, science is more fulfilling than religion because there's always something new to discover, always a new challenge to overcome, rather than simply accepting something for what it is.

Maybe a god was responsible for the spark that created the universe! Maybe we'll find evidence out there that points to one. We simply don't know right now, and that is very exciting.

Hope this helps, OP

>Well the reason i'm an Atheist is because being an Atheist is based on Science while being a Christian is based on Faith

This right here is retarded, science should not bring you to the conclusion of there not being a god, logical thinking should. Personally I stand on a middle ground of denying a particular god, but don't completely scrap the idea of there being some form of god/deity. I'm not agnostic, I'm not an atheist, and the only time I was either one of those was when I was going through my edgy high school experience years and years ago.

Also those quotes from the bible you have in the photo, I simply googled them and got no clear answer to them being true. Even if they are, the words and meanings seem to be warped to modern day thinking which is done by the church, slowly adapting to the world around it.

>BigBang

Well the Big-bang is simply understood if you just ride on the basis of how the possibility of it happening is quite high due to the fact it's observable in action today.

Understanding anymore about it, good luck. You would have to study all your life to understand a fraction of it. It's like Quantum Physics, if you say you entirely understand it, you're retarded. If you say you understand the Big-Bang entirely, you're half retarded.

I'm not reading everything you said, just scanning through it and the last point you make is

>And before you say then How did God get here..? who created Him? Think of it like this..

To then you give the answer the church like to regurgitate.

And before you say then How did Jamal the Jamaican dancer get here..? who created Him? Think of it like this..

This works for everything, and even the Big-Bang! How did the Big-Bang get there?

Oh. It has always been there repeating the same process over and over. Either way, you shouldn't be religious, you shouldn't be anti-religion and you definitely don't have the answers for either things so let's just drop it.

The problem of evil, for starters. The reality we're seeing isn't really compatible with an omnipotent, omnibenevolent god. The idea of salvation through faith also bugs me: the existence of Christian god isn't really apparent(after all, if it were, there would be no other religions), so how can one's beliefs be more important than deeds? That doesn't really jive with the idea of a just god, either. And that's before we even get to the idea of hell: how can an infinite punishment possibly be a righteous consequence from finite crime?

I mean, maybe there is a god of some kind, but if so, I really don't think he cares too much about what we believe unless he's outright malicious, in which case you're almost certainly screwed anyway and in any case, that's not the kind of god I would want to worship.

The Bible talked about the 144,000 being able to have the privilege of being in Heaven with God, but not the common man, for the Bible said Death is like a deep sleep, for we the common man don't go to heaven nor do we go to hell for our "Sins"

The Bible talks about a Paradise earth on which he want's his righteous followers in inhabit the Earth forever, for this was his main purpose until Adam and eve decided to mess it all up for us.. so now we're having to wait until he takes action, and i assure you, action will soon come, probably in our life time.

Something something God is infinite and therefore crime against him (sin) weighs infinitely heavy.

God does not even contemplate eternal torment. The idea that he would punish people in hellfire is contrary to the Bible’s teaching that “God is love. 1-John 4:8; Jeremiah 7:31
Also
Romans 6:9 says
For the one who has died has been acquitted from his sin.

As you can see Hell is a false teaching.

I just stopped beleiving in fairy tales my negro
Yes the Bible had certain hits but also quite a bunch of misses
The customs and traditions were and still are unexplained properly, ilogical and not essential to them or others
The philosophy is quite brutal if you ask me; everything just being black and white (if x then y, unless zx, if so then q) instead of being in all spectre od grey (based on the x, y and z it would be definitively q but the w makes it a bit complicated so we should check the a, b, c, d, e and f and determine if we should do q, o, p, r or s or any other if the given ones are inappropriate)
The people tend to be pure cancer; tell one joke facing religion and they get aggressive, obnoxious and child-like defensive)
>the individuals that step out of this group are too minor to be considered properly

It's just a narcofest to even try to logic out their claims irl

This one is post regarding: people back then made alnost no proper scientific researches, no proper tools to even do so; all they had was a pure guess
We have the technology, resources and the people to make proper testing: we can explore the truth beyond the blank guess in the darkness

Why does there always have to be a purpose in life?
Life is inherently meaningless, which is what makes it so beautiful.
You can make it mean whatever the hell you want, you can go down whatever path you want.
We are purposeless in the grand scheme of things, but we have every opportunity to insert a purpose while we're here.

>>712875847
Also one more thing to add, The Bible never shares EVERYTHING with us, just what is needed, for example in never explained how the land of the exile came about, for it really isn't worth mentioning, and if they did mention every single detail the Bible would be to big to read.

So just because it doesn't reveal every detail about Elijah having a bad day and cursing the children so a bear would eat doesn't mean we should conclude our thoughts there, the Bible is far deeper then that.
It would be a shame for you to stop reading because you didn't fully understand a certain
verse.

Also sorry if there is any typos, this is a long message so i hope i didn't lose you.

2. >explain
>beyond what we can understand
>deny existance of _____ because it cannot be explained or measured
Really anon? any creature can go over that line and it would be as equally real as anything else that comes by imagination.

3. see # 1

4. purpose comes from your nature to live and the many things that branch from that including all the shit people do to stay happy and to eat, etc. Goals that a God gave you are almost the same as goals that you generate, except the latter gives you more freedom thanks to sin.

5. You can't refuse to believe in something if it is paradoxical in concept and unwilling to reveal itself.

Saying "I don't know" is an act of surrender
Instead of claiming there is a force of nature not advised/prompted by a higher mind-deity but rather just is and functions like the way it does I would recommend actually giving a 'plausible' statement of funcional example
>loops
Theoreticly they've been proven to be possible (theoreticly) and give a reasonable understandment what was before and what is after the big bang: one same thing looping over and over
No higher deity requested or needed yet everything has it's before and after (there have been theories that the universe should be repositioned to this same position it is now after about one googolplex of years, but then again those are just theories)
>>
>>712878166
You said you knew how many stars there where like it was fact.

Yet then you tell me the Universe is finite.

You do know that's educated guess right? for the Google reading says So we really do not know if the universe is infinite at this point, but since the value is so close to flat, even if the universe is positively curved and finite, it would definitely be much much bigger than the observable universe..

So you're putting your faith in this? You don't truly know that, so you've added blind faith to your conclusion? Not being rude, just saying.

To explain (my logic is a bit broken but bear with it):
Either there is or is not a god
If there isn't: shit, there is nothing to say, no pappi in da sky for me
If there is: a) he's a total asshole that doesn't care for his creation
>[doesn't desserve any respect for being an asshole]

c) he isn't aware of us as his creation

Sorry, i didn't see this comment sooner, slipped passed be amongst all the other comments.

So to start of this picture wasn't trying to discredit Science it was means to explain how Science has always been wish washy while the Bible held it's own through out time without changing it's text.

And i never said Evolution was simply just about a Reptile turning into a Mammal i used that as a form of explaining how people will also believe in something they never witnessed happened.
And i wouldn't go as far to say as the Bible disagreeing with Evolution.. because you could say a form of Evolution took place on a Wolf.. and that wolf became domesticated and then that domesticated Wolf become our typical FiFi as we see today. But Some Evolutionist take it a bit far when they start compering us to ancient Animals, and saying how they Where once a fish then that fish became a mammal then that mammal became a turkey then etc etc etc etc...

Yet people have NEVER seen this transition take place.. yet they take these so called educated guesses as facts.. so in that regard they have "FAITH" they're right.

And you're saying the BigBang isn't crap? How did it even happen? Does it really make more sense to you that it happened all by it's self..?
How does that make more sense then someone being behind such a complex process?

Also taking space college 400 years from now? Have you been watching the Jetsons? And i'm sure you will remain Atheist, because usually the narrow minded stick to a conclusion that involves you to do nothing but sitting around and jacking off all day while playing video games.

Damn op don't get aggressive
The reason we have never seen evolution "take place"is because it is milenials long process which includes tons of natural selection, not to mention that certain species don't change at all for millions of year
Rough estimate tells me we won't see a new species formed purely by evolution ( the natural selection at it's gandest) until the year 12000 (rough estimate)

And for the big bang: I have no idea how much you've gotten into UNDERSTANDING physics as much as LEARNING it
If payed attention whenever physics is mentioned you'd start to understand how the atoms, subatomic particles, quarks and gluons, and essentialy strings function (fyi most of this have been in fact proven 100% existant by being observed/detected with special instruments they have used) in a way that makes many unreasonable fenomena in cosmos quite probable and even more so acceptibly more likely than the "deity creation theory"
>>
>>712885153
You proved my point, you're right no one has seen "Evolution" take place.

And as far as your second comment goes, i have no idea how to respond to this, because i'm trying to find a nicer to explain why i disagree with your opinion.

You aren't really sharing any info with me on how i'm "Incorrect" just a bunch of well if you understood how all this worked then i wouldn't need to explain something to you i know nothing about, btw it's called string Theory...."THEORY"

You keep putting your faith in man and see how far that get's you Anon, we don't really have much more to talk about unless you wanna argue some more.

TLDR
that being said if nobody has caught on yet, this is the difference between Agnosticism and Atheism. and the very reason I fall into the former. (although with atheist overtones.) It's is precisely as preposterous to believe the universe has been here forever or came from nothing as it is to believe that something or one created it out of nothing or has existed forever. that is why you are rendered unable to know anything of the true nature of god. If the universe really did come from intelligent design, it is a very amazing system. P.S. DO DMT

>thinks putting faith in an existant man is rubbish
>thinks putting faith in deity with highly unlikely chance to exist is more profound

Also
>doing the "it's just a theory"
You bongo, the "Earth is a sphere" was also a theory until Magellan proved it
Just likewise the "string theory" is as much as a theory as the "elephants contain potassium in their body" theory, sure, wenever did the proper testing to prove this but we can say it is indeed like that with 99% guarancy just by observing the similiar objects

Also, I haven't proved you fucken claim about the evolution, you just reinterpretated it that way
I said evolution is a long process that cannot be observed in a short amount of time
You are saying that just because we cannot see the evolution we cannot prove it a fact
Have you ever heard of gene compatibility? The fact that we share a certain amount of genes with almost all the organism, humans likewise share by far the most of the genes with primates, then rodents, then reptiles and so back down the evolution road
How the fuck would this be posdible if a daddeh from the sky made every species apart from each other an let the course take is action for them to slightly mutate

>do DMT
I agree with that
Should be done more often

So i made some thanksgiving dinner and came back to see if op responded.

My post wasn't denouncing god, i am not sure if you caught the part where i implied "I don't give a fuck about god, you do you and i do me."

My post was denouncing organized religion and that wasn't even the purpose of my response.

You asked a question, and i saw a bunch of stupid shit to rip at you for. No one can give a 100% answer for the "Big bang" unless we can actually witness it happening we will never be 100% sure. I have read some theory of pressure creating matter, i have no place telling anyone what happened though because my qualifications give me no capabilities.

Your post was cutting down "science" for some fucken reason. I hope someday you need to go to a hospital and the doctor calls you back and hands you a bible and tells you to scram.

The only reason why you are wearing clothes, sitting in a fabric, polyester, or leather chair, posting cancer on 4chin on your Computer that runs off of electricity in your house built from materials prepared in factories is from science.

Religion has given the world guidelines, some good and some bad. I am not denouncing it as a whole, i think it is taken too seriously. Note my space college joke.

Science knew the Earth was round. The Greeks even calculated how large it was far before Christianity popped up.
It's the religious people that started that whole:
>"They thought Earth was flat. LOL"
Thing to begin with.
The theories on the Big Bang is that there was mass, and matter before the Big Bang, and that there was a "Big Crunch" of the matter condensing.
The rest of the things on the list are either from Wingnuts who got told:
>"That's not how it works, you can't do 'x'"
Then tried to, because they were told they couldn't, or from the same story the "Flat Earth" joke came from.

To be honest, i'v been replying to these comments for the past 3 or 4 hours and my head hurts now from staring at the computer, i need some fresh air or something.

And i wasn't cutting down "Science" i was showing just how faulty it can be.

Also my comment was 99.9% in harmony with your comment, you choose to disagree with it because you dislike what i say... LIKE EVERY FUCKING ARGUMENT that ever took place on the internet. You kid's are something else i tell yuh what.

I will ask you this simple question:
On how many layers of insanity are you?
This isn't humane anymore, >you "came" with this thread as a friendly neighbour Chrischan that wanted to hear about autheism
>you ascended to a level of 'I understand your missunderstandment' type of preacher
>downfalled to a pit of "beartooth aggressive"
>now you are an old guy in his 60 unable to understand the fact we like to disagree with stuff
It's intetnet for cuck's sake
Nothing is holy, especially not the chrischans

Do I really must prove that I'm not the same poster?(no really, I slipped in the argument the original anon had with OP, I'm just an autist that likes to share his "philosophy")
>>
>>712887917
You know what i'll reply to this because you're probably the last one.

Note: I never said you where denouncing God.
Likewise, i also so stuff i could "rip you at" for.
Such as you never really explained to me why i'm wrong in any form, and also where the heck was i cutting down "science"? i was showing how it can be faulty from time to time, that reflecting the people who are scientist.

And why do you assume religious people don't partake in science? There are many scientist out there who serve God, Atheist aren't special snow flakes, there are many people in "That" field.
So again, where are you trying to prove me wrong? because i feel you're dodging my questions.

Not the guy you are currently arguing with, but I will ask you kind to reffer to following video as an answer to your question

Ok so i'll watch the rest of this later considering it's 7 mins long "Watched 3:18 of it"

And so far he's said "ridiculous claim" so many times in that 3 mins i was bitting my tongue.

I was raised in a family who wasn't religious at all, in fact my sister (The second oldest) i have 2 sister, she is now an Atheist.

I my self have been agnostic forever, since i was like in my late teens, but that's another story for another time.

I'm not sure what that guys "Agenda is" because he's dedicated his whole channel to bashing religion, i'm sure it's how he's making his money... and that whole ridiculous claim stuff he keeps talking about... how is that NOT visa versa for atheist? How are there claims not ridiculous?
It's completely hypocritical.
>>
>>712890551
Also to add when he add's the whole hellfire scene... anyone who's read the Bible would know Hellfire is a false teaching.
>>
>>712868687
right, never has science been used to control people
>>
For example, Hebrews 11:3.There are over 100 published different translations and interpretations of each and every chapter and verse of the bible right now.
These verses have, for want of a better term, evolved with modern thinking over generations. There is fuck all similarity from the original text to what your are reading today. Its just Chinese whispers.
For example. Someone writing 2000 years ago in local Hebrew dialect something like "I need to take a shit now" then that same text is read and re written and translated as understood every generations since would most likely read something like " I voted for Hillary"
