I enjoy Belus more than Fallen. It's a perfect blend of his black and ambient styles but instead of having separate songs for each style, they are now mixed. If Varg would have been smart and left out Sverddans, it would have been a perfect track list. That song just doesn't fit the mood of the album.

Sverddans would have been a fine track on some other album. Rest of the songs on Belus are really mellow and dreamy, so it kills the mood. And I agree that Fallen is well recorded but it just doesn't appeal to me as much for some reason. Maybe it's the shrill guitar tone. I'd say my top 4 are Hvis lyset tar oss, Belus, Fallen and Filosofem in that order. It's a shame that there most likely won't be more metal albums. One interesting thing about Belus' recording is that everything is copied and pasted. Varg pretty much played every riff and drum beat once and just hit ctrl+c & ctrl+v until the track was finished.
