THats crazy to imagine. Walking through a field in line with like 30 other guys with multiple platoons doing the same armed with rifles and mg's, with like 50 tanks rolling along with you toward a smoking shell of a city. The sheer amount of firepower they had was incredible.
>>712807786
>>712807912
grand war, grand demands, grand toll
>>712807955
>>712808157
>>712802718
>Viet Nam
Nope, that's clearly a German soldier from WW2. You can tell by the MG 42 he's carrying as well as the SS collar patch.

>>712808264
>>712808292
>>712808329
>>712808404
>>712808157
Some hard lessons learned though
>>712808475
>>712808519
These guys should consider themselves lucky in a way. Most people train in training environments where they probably wont die if they get it wrong. These guys though, they fuck up once they're dead.
>>712808475
look at those sick standard issue boots.
almost as good as their training
>>712808496
yeah, it's all big on the table but when it comes down to it war is about those dying in the fields. These kinds of things make individuals grow up a lot faster, also great choice of photo that one.
>>712808519
>>712808757
that face is fucking haunting.
>>712808715
yeah, and they've adapted like mad, the way they fight is very diferent from what it was in 2014 and only war trained them, training and tests are useless when carrying your weight across open ground
>>712808734
kek
>>712808748
>>712808950
>>712808748
Which is why we need people who have actually fought wars to run them. Rather than some rich asshole who's never fired a shot in anger you get some guy thats been there and done it, just not someone who's going to hesitate, the stakes are a lot higher and theres no room for error.
>>712809434
right and that's why many wars seem more of a training ground for the military and technology rather than wars
>>712809106
slowly running out, if i was on my other pc i'd have archives of military photos
>>712802829
what is he risking his life for
>>712809547
In a way that makes sense to do, the only way to really be sure about how something will perform is to put it to work doing what it was intended to do.
>>712809547
>>712808199
Canada's entire military? 3 ground guys and a helicopter
>>712809865
not only that, but it asserts your strength over military opponents
>>712809884
>>712809955
kek, we have a helicopter in repairs too i'll let you know
>>712809993
>>712810098
whoop wrong one
>>712809993
That doesn't mean a thing if your equipment fails because it was deemed good enough to scare people. In the end it comes down to the strength and cohesion of the infantry, as well as their ability to adapt to changes quicker than their enemy can.
>>712810194
of course but the point of 'asserting' strength is aimed at those you aren't fighting but who wish to, those who witness your military in action without any other consenquence than that of inferiority
>>712810143
>>712810098
Interesting thread, thanks
>>712810578
alright i'm dry, peace OP
>>712810642

>>712810709

>>712810745
21 why?
>>712808757
He went over the top.
>>712810578
Thats a good point. I've never really been interested in the politics of war, I'm more worried about who the enemy is.
