It's a joke. Now they are saying that methane from cow farts cause global warming.
Cows have been around for thousands of years, and NOW they magically start to ruin Earth?
>>
>>712400637

Climate change is real. The hoax is the claim that something could be done about it without doing something about overpopulation.

nice b8 m8
>>
>>712401334
Yeah this here.
Plus there was a time when someone asked if all the extra CO2 getting pumped into the atmosphere would actually HELP plant life and the ecosystem, the climate change scientist couldn't rebut it.
>>
>>712400637
Google global dimming. Every year less light makes it to Earth's surface mostly because of particulate pollution from burning fuel. In some places the light dropped by like 20% over a decade. Literally irrefutable evidence that we're fucking shit up
>>
>>712401701
I would be perfectly fine with global warming if there's also global dimming.
Bring on the pollution then.

Ever heard of overproduction? It's a problem the US face in the 1920s. It would be a similar issue for plants in that yes, they do need CO2, but they don't need as much as we're producing right now. As for the rest of the ecosystem, they fucking produce it, they don't need more.
>>
>>712401990

Realistically we shouldn't waste land raising cattle. They store like 1% of the sun's energy as biomass so we'd get 10x the calories/field with food crops. Aquaponic farms allow meat to be grown in the same field you plant in meaning you get more food at a similar energy cost
>>
>>712401990
You realize 78% of our air is nitrogen right?
Fuck off retard

Climate change is happening.

Man made climate change is another story. The world as a whole was much more productive during the industrial boom with harmful methods of industrialization than it is now, particularly in the western world deindustrialisation, yet the world is now hotter. We don't know what is causing this. The popularization of the car is a drop in the ocean compared to what we supposedly did to the plant during the industrial revolution, yet is being pushed as a reason for it.
>>
>>712400637
it's warmer today than it was yesterday

>>
>>712401903
They don't balance out. "Global warming" is more accurately referred to as climate change because it alters weather patterns on a global scale (forests becoming deserts, deserts becoming marshlands, etc) so if it continues farmland becomes unusable in some places. Global dimming is a reduction in the amount of light reaching the Earth's surface, which means that every year you can grow less food for a shorter period of time. As far as farming is concerned it's a double wammy

The greenhouse effect is the claim that gases more easily absorb different frequencies of light, which is, for example, the basis for infrared photography. Pic related: that's not postprocessing, that's either film that's sensitive to near-infrared light, or a digital camera with a infrared-pass filter. All objects in the universe glow with frequency based on their temperature, which is the basis of night-vision goggles. The claim of climate change is, the frequency of light emitted by the glow of the Earth is preferentially absorbed by greenhouse gases, and that atmospheric concentration of greenhouse gases is going up. The anthropogenic climate change claim is that the increase in greenhouse gas concentration is chiefly down to human pollution.

Which claim here do you disagree with?

This.

You can't deal with climate change without addressing there are now 5x the number of people on the planet there was 100 years ago, all consuming food, and historically living longer than they ever have. Stopping industrialization is like taking a paracetamol pill to cure your cancer - Its not addressing the problem

Earth has a theoretical carrying capacity of 11 billion. We can have our cake and eat it too, that's what separates us from the animals

I believe in climate change but I dont give a fuck

Let the next generation worry about it as we party it up
>>
>>712400637

The long and the short of it, is the Earth goes through cylical small climatic shifts over time that affect temperature, sea level, composition of land by category (forest, desert, marshlands, etc). There's a lot of complexity to the system. Seismic shifts, natural and man-made greenhouse effects, wobble of the rotation axis of the Earth, etc. It's a very complex and chaotic system.

The effect of man on that system is currently debatable (in the sense of not being completely settled science, but currently the operating theory), despite what the militant tree-huggers would have you believe. There is some initial research suggesting that magnetic pole shifts (and the effects on the tectonic movements/lava movements) might actually be responsible for the recent more radical climatic shifts (these changes tend occur on the millions of years time scale, as opposed to the hundreds of thousands scale they're currently examining).

Anywho, shit's getting squirrelly, we're gonna have to either adapt or die, and honestly, a population thinning effect would likely be good for the species long-term, but that's another argument for another day.

I'd imagine a fair amount of the shit in our atmosphere trapping the heat comes more from coal burning and all those nuclear tests from 1945-1996.

Funnily enough, the global warming shit is feared by the alt-right because

>Earth has a theoretical carrying capacity of 11 billion.

But in practice, we already consume resources faster than they are renewed. Plus we are obliterating biodiversity. Plus the humans that are in the "lowest places of the economical ladder" are already dying of hunger. Plus the tensions the clashes between ethnic and other groups are constantly increasing since no one has anywhere to "escape" each other anymore.

Yeah, sure there are "theoretical limits".

But you could just as well say that "if you worked 80 hours a week, grew your own food, made your own clothes, lived in a tent, only slept two hours a night and never got sick and put all your money into savings, then you'd be a millionaire in 10 years"... just because something is possible in theory, doesn't mean it's actually realistic.

>the humans that are in the "lowest places of the economical ladder" are already dying of hunger.
That's not a problem of resources, it's a problem of allocation. Farmers could produce more than they currently do, but when you greatly increase the supply, the cost goes down. When the sale cost goes down but the production cost didn't, you lose money.

Then there's the fact that those starving people don't have money to buy food anyway.

So it's not that we *can't* feed everyone, it's that we *won't* feed everyone. In other words, it's not a limit caused by planetary resources, just human behavior.
>>
>>712404979

actually the climate change scientist did rebut it. Except this is as simple as better management of resources on a global scale.

How many people can a farm feed? There are better styles of farm that grow more food with the same land and a small increase in the energy costs

How many people can live in an apartment building? There are styles of apartment building that can provide all the amenities at a fraction of the energy cost

>continuous build up of co2... it didn't just stop. it didn't just go away.
Once again, all the CO2 models failed (because water is actually the greenhouse gas to watch out for) and plants absorbing CO2 has actually stop or reverse desertification in some areas. So, yes, it technically is going away.

Do some digging on the shifting of magnetic poles, how that affects current through the largely iron core. Current changes through any conductor can cause increases in heat.

I'm not saying it's the only cause, but what I am saying, is it's something that needs to be investigated. There's people who are already noticing the shift claiming climate change is causing it, but anyone with a basic understanding of electro-magnetics and physics would know that it's more likely the other way around.
>>
>>712405934
Is it possible then that the reason people in coastal cities are SO eager to believe in it is because it is a direct threat to their livelihood and there's a cognitive dissonance associated with that?

this effect is already counted for in all climate change models.

sorry mate, you are wrong - climate change is man made a real.

The earth is also an open system that is constantly bombarded with solar radiation, for that reason among others, climate is always changing.

While actions of mankind are affecting the atmospheric composition, claims that mankind is solely responsible for long-term temperature shifts or even the "end of the world" are dubious at best. In some cases they have been outright debunked by simply observing the failure of past predictions, and the methods by which scientists measure or flatly guess or otherwise misrepresent temperatures around the world in order to make other extreme predictions appear to come true.

population density is low, but the US is the third most populous nation on the planet, behind China and India.

The problem of overpopulation is not population density by any stretch of the imagination, there is plenty of empty space on this planet. The issue is consumption per capita, of which the US is the largest problem in the planet by a great deal. Therefore, every single birth in the US contributes significantly more to overpopulation than the average birth outside the US.

Back in the 1970s, scientists and the newspapers and magazines publishing their announcements frantically warned of a coming ice age. This was based on temperature data, which showed a steady decline in temperatures since the 1930s. Now, these same institutions are telling us that temperatures have been steadily rising for the whole century, with graphs to demonstrate.

How can forty years of the same temperature data show cooling back then and warming now? The answer is that NOAA and NASA went back and CHANGED THE DATA. They've not only been revising the more recent numbers upward, but revised the older measurements downward so as to create the appearance of a long term warming trend.

On top of that, we have a bunch of emails hacked from climate scientists at the University of East Anglia showing these scientists talking about "hiding the decline", making up numbers entirely, and conspiring to block skeptics from publication in scientific journals.

Yeah, sure, the global warming hypothesis sounds reasonable on its face, but if it's accurate, why do its proponents commit so much fraud and push their conclusions to the point where it looks like an Orwellian propaganda campaign?

That, boys and girls, is why I call bullshit on global warming.

It must be real because governments are using it as a reason to collect tax and start carbon offset projects. Those taxes are always collected and used for the greater good based on legitimate need and the carbon offsets are in no way being abused by industry who are literally paid money to reduce their CO2 emissions... it's not like they increased them on purpose before signing up to receive them only to go back to standard production levels and be paid.

Oh, wait... it's the opposite of all that, isn't it?

All the cars on the road in the USA - ALL of them - is the same CO2 production as about 15 shipping container ships. Right now there are about 400 shipping containers in regular transit.

Cows produce more methane than any other source and methane produces a significantly worse greenhosue effect than CO2.

Cows and shipping container ships are the biggest contributors to controllable greenhouse emissions but governments are collecting taxes to encourage people to buy expensive new cars that do genuinely nothing to reduce CO2 emission. Electric vehicles use lithium ore which is mostly mined in Canada supplied to manufacturers in China / Japan and then batteries are shipped to countries where they are constructed using standard factory production methods used for the production of regular cars. All theshipping of parts: shipping container ships do them. The carbon footprint of the production of a fully electric vehicle is significantly larger than a regular car which massively increases its overhead to the point where you'd have to drive it for longer than a regular car just to clear the production footprint. Those batteries have a 5 to 7 year expected life and will need replacing... cycle continues.

Global warming is being used as an excuse to promote business & collect tax, nothing more.

Sad part: it's actually happening and the bleeding heart liberals think that these taxes, offsets and electric vehicles will do something to stop it. kek.
>>
>>712401334
It is not the cows. It is the bacteria that live in the cow's guts that produces methane, which is a more efficient greenhouse gas than say, CO2. Methane is destroyed in the atmosphere by sunlight, so, while strong, it doesn't last as long.

>The problem of overpopulation is not population density by any stretch of the imagination
>The issue is consumption per capita
Seems like he understands just fine.
You can be overpopulated while also having very low population density. Let's assume that overconsumption is using resources faster than they can be renewed. The actual term overconsumption is too vague/subjective. Overconsumption would then only happen when a populace has grown too large to support itself. You could argue that overconsumption is using more than you need but then that raises other questions; how much do you need? Are we only including things we need? What is needed?

The entire world could be overpopulated with only 1000 people if they all tried real hard to fuck everything up.

If CO2 really was driving warming, we would see a rise in temperature roughly proportionally equivalent, but that's not the case. We're pumping out all this CO2 and yet it still comprises a minuscule portion of our atmosphere and it's not any hotter now than it was in the 1930s. If the alarmists are to be believed about the role of CO2, we should be literally cooking right now.

That discrepancy alone is proof enough that the warmers don't know what the fuck they're talking about.

Going back to my hour out of the year. The seasons changing are not going to be shown in that hour of data. Nor is the hours of daylight fluctuating.

That doesn't actually debunk anything I said. It simply downplays the extent of scientific belief in a coming ice age. Numerous publications apart from just Time and Newsweek covered it.

Besides, we had had heavy industrialization with far fewer emissions controls for more than a century before the warming cash cow came into play. Why would temperatures wait so long to start rising if indeed CO2 is the culprit and we were flooding the atmosphere with it for a century already?

Right but again, you ignore any effects of long-term fluctuation mechanisms like those due to magnetic pole fluctuations which typically occur on the millions of years timescales.

I don't understand whether you don't see that only focusing on a small window of time may ignore the effects of long term cycles and trends or whether you're willfully ignorant of it.

This could warming could be the effect of a cycle millions of years long, but if you're only looking at a few hundred thousand years, you'll miss it completely.

In 1800 the world population was hovering around 1 billion. Prior to 1950 it was already in 2 billion. 67 years later and we have over 7 billion human beings feasting on earth's carcass, and demanding more resources than ever.

I don't know what's OP level of education on biology is, but the fact is that nature as we know it is supported by a very delicate balance in which each and every life has it's fundamental, structural, importance. In other words: if a polinating insect that is only available in a particular forest is by any chance extinct, odds are most plants that rely on it to reproduce will go extinct as well; and vice-versa, if the plants that produce a certain insect's food disappear, odds are evey animal that feeds on said insect will also vanish from the face of earth.

Not to mention that over the course of the last century, we diminished the diversity of our planet in about 40%. We are responsible for the sixth mass extinction that life on earth has seen. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthropocene

We are crossing a point of no return in regards of how much we had, and still do destroy nature. Soon enough the ecosystem is going to demand it's toll from us.

TL;DR: Global warming is fake because it's been hot/cold before.

Because all you ACTUALLY said was that we dont know exactly what happened the past 4 billion years, which is in itself no argument that attacks any of the previously stated positions.

There is no reason to beliefe that 0.01% would be enough to make accurate predictions.

I think that, if you knew all variables, a SINGLE pair of time frames would be all you would require to completely map out the entire rest of history, including all future events and all future changes in everything.

>And our little rock isnt that complex to understand in the big scale.

Please then, explain to everyone, to start, the effects of variations in sunspots, the effects of the increase in space debris as reflectors/refractors, the effects of the magnetic pole shifts and corresponding shifts in currents through the Earth's core, the effects of deforestation, the effects of absorptive solar energy, and how they all interact (both with temperature and each other) with adequate scientific evidence. I'll wait.

And while you're right, you'd only need a single pair of time frames if you knew all the variables, we don't. In fact, we regularly discover/create new variables all the time (case and point, space debris). You can attempt to oversimplify all you'd like, but that ultimately leads to reduced quality models that fail.

"The last time that Earth's poles flipped in a major reversal was about 780,000 years ago, in what scientists call the Brunhes-Matuyama reversal. The fossil record shows no drastic changes in plant or animal life. Deep ocean sediment cores from this period also indicate no changes in glacial activity, based on the amount of oxygen isotopes in the cores. This is also proof that a polarity reversal would not affect the rotation axis of Earth, as the planet's rotation axis tilt has a significant effect on climate and glaciation and any change would be evident in the glacial record."

Pole reversal does nothing retard. Research is hard, it seems.

>I'm operating on the assumption that we're making assertions on an incomplete data set without a complete understanding of all the mechanics affecting an incredibly complex and dynamic system.incredibly complex and dynamic system
When has that not been done? We don't fully understand every aspect of the human body yet doctors can fairly accurately assume an illness based on its symptoms. If it's incomplete, at what point will it be complete?
Tell me what you need.
There isn't a book out there somewhere with all the answers you need. Unless they find such a book, you're going to have to rely on how it's worked so far: experts making informed guesses and slowly advancing our total knowledge through experimentation on a small scale and observation on a large scale.

GODDAMN, ALL you have to do is remember how the atmosphere became oxygen rich in the first place. The answer is tiny organisms known as cyanobacteria, or blue-green algae. These microbes conduct photosynthesis: using sunshine, water and carbon dioxide to produce carbohydrates and, yes, oxygen.

SO saying there is no way a bunch of methane belching oxygen hogging fatasses (humans) can't can't the climate simply by shitting and eating is dumb.
>>
>>712418441
The point is, it's not just humans breathing, shitting and eating that is the problem. It's everything else we do. Even if global warming isn't happening, humans are still a cause for most problems on earth
>>
>>712405590

Well the last part is already happening, and it has nothing to do with climate change.
>>
>>712405384
This is untrue. Cattle outnumber humans by a massive amount. 1.4 billion is a ridiculously low number. Maybe you meant only in the US or something.

Fuck off hippy.
When niggers and brown people breed at 10 times the speed of actual humans then I don't want to "help" those in "need".
How about those brown skins and niggers stop breeding?

>>712400637. There is change but we are not responsible read about the core flip of our earth happens on regular intervals next one is due within 1500 years. As the core slows our shield weakens allowing in more radiation. Yes we can add to the effect but we can't cause or stop it. It gets hotter as the core slows then when it flips direction the shield goes back to full and the next Ice age starts....

Basing a global phenomenon that has more to due with spikes in weather changes on U.S politics. How self centered is the US?

God damn, you're an idiot.
Yes some white people are garbage, but the percentage of trash whites is irrelevant when 95% of blacks are garbage.

This is probably one of the single most ignorant arguments that the deniers have ever come up with. This is right on a par with flat earth. May even be the same idiots who've come up with it.

Science from all over the world support it. Only conservative politicians in Big Oil's and Big Coal's pockets are going to convince you otherwise, you bubbled ignorant twat.

Fucking idiots buying into the bullshit from the left or the right. Not actually taking 5 minutes to learn what is actually happening.

Yes burning fossil fuels puts green house gasses in the air. Yes enough of it will raise the net temperature of earth. The claim that by burning all the fossil fuels available will melt the earth's ice caps and kill billions of people is a fucking bold claim with zero evidence to back it up. The bigger concern should be what do we switch to when fossil fuels start to run dry.
>>
>>712421845
no one is saying billions of people will die. The animals will die and millions of people but there will be 500 million refugees which will fuck shit up. Just look at what a few million refugees do

Climate change let's call it what it is. WEATHER.
Second according to what "climate change scientists " said a really pushed a few years ago. New York city should be flooding. Didn't happen.
Polar bears was going to die from drowning. According to the people that actually count the bears they are thriving.
The poles should have been melted. NASA says it has billion tons more ice.
US has how many failed solar panel companies. If the government cared They would have issued solar panels for all homes.
How many countries are really trying to help. The middle east gets its money from fossil fuels. Everyone seems to be using nuclear power plants. And digging for the raw materials.
Government complain about rising CO2 levels. But interferes with farmers and gardeners (some cities have laws against gardens and the amount of plants they can grow.) Which would eat up the extra CO2.
How many other countries are actually trying to do anything.
Israel was a desert like rest of the middle east. But found a way to turn it around. Tells how to grow plants in the desert. But no one cares.

But explain to me how scientists that has taken large amount of grant money from Democrats state one way. And the normal scientists say another way. Telling us to believe them. But not to believe in science on genders.

Shelf ice vs sea ice.
Also ice increasing in one place whilst shrinking everywhere else isnt really a good argument

That literally would not make a difference
