My X58 nigga. I had a 5870 originally. Great GPU. My Xeon was $80. It's die shrunk, has two additional cores, and should be compatible with your motherboard (Google it to be sure). Get one and a new GPU in there and you'll be set for any new game, especially DX 12 and Vulkan ones that can take advantage of the 6 cores.

i7's peak at 90-95 C before they throttle.
AMD is well known for throttling at lower temps.
Your PC would have shut down looong before you even reached 100C.
