Magic cards are an investment, as long as you don't waste money on shitty formats like Standard. My net worth went up by about 10k from 2001 to 2011 when I sold my collection as my vintage and legacy cards appreciated in value.
Toys etc. are weird to me; I don't get adults collecting them but if they make you happy, do it.

Open a savings account, put all your bills on autopay, split your direct deposit between the two accounts. In your checking goes enough money to pay your bills, buy food and gas and give yourself $20 a month or so to play with. Do you play MtG actively? If so then no harm buying a few cards now and then. If it's just tournaments I'd say quit but if you're doing it to play with friends that's fine.
It's fine to collect a few toys and stuff. Just limit yourself. You have to set a hard rule where you buy yourself 1 thing per month, no more than X dollars where X is something you can afford.
Take the money you save, and keep half of it for real world shit. The other half can go to getting you out of your shitty town. Even if it takes 5 years.
Don't pay for commissions of furry art. Learn to draw instead. You might not be good but it doesn't matter; if you really love your spesshul snowflake you'll be happy you did in a year. You'll still be a faggot but you'll be an actualized self-sufficient faggot, which means you're nobody's bitch.
Finally, exercise. I am a fat fuck but I make sure to take walks and do 50 pushups and situps at least 3 days a week. Even if you can't do that you will be able to in short order if you just keep track of it. You'll feel better and have more energy.

So what i did was this.I went to a place where people played (it wasnt the place i used to play) I showed my cards, let the people decide if they where good or bad cads. Asked them if they like my cards. If they wanted them. When i got some yeses from them i ripped in half every single card i had in that specific moment. I broke some serious shit and it felt fucking awesome. When i did that it got out of my life. Never played again. Never spent any more money in cards and never spent 1 single minute of my life playing cards again. A new life for sure.
