how do i restore a lost participation on windows 10?

I have 4 different lans set up with Class C IP addresses with different third octets to differentiate them from one another. My situation is that each group is set up as a star topology with one switch connecting each lan. What I need to do is connect them all so that they can communicate with each other but I have yet to be able to get them to ping each other.
What do
>>710492289
take the hard drive out, do not use it. The more you use it, the more corrupt the partiton will be. Get yourself a SATA->USB HDD docking station and plug it into a working computer. Grab a trial of EaseUS data recovery and you'll be able to run data recovery on the lost partition :)
-ITfag
>>710492329
Instructions nuclear. Got my dick stuck in a Geiger counter.
>>710492379
Why the fuck would you change the third octets then expect them to ping each other? Change the fourth octet instead. Keep it simple, stupid.

mid tower, bought a twin water cooling sistem and it doesnt fit by less of an inch kos the filter is in the way of the cd drive metal parts....how do i remove these parts without damaging it to much or buying a bigger tower?
>>710492481
It would be that simple if I didn't have to keep them on separate networks due to reasons and upper stupidity.
>>710492533
do research before you buy parts, stop wasting your money on shit that isn't compatible.
Get yourself some powertools kid, a dremmel at least.
>>710492481
>>710492577
To clarify, each star is supposed to be it's own separate lan for the others because reasons, which is why the third octet is different. Obviously the fourth is different for each computer but each star has an assigned third octet.
Can't watch webm's on iPhone.
>>710492684
Ahhk, I gotcha. What type of switch is connecting them? If it supports VLAN's you can configure it easy as hell via web interface. Got a model #?

>>710492860
I'd try with a new power supply (can get a cheap 450w for ~$20) and see if the issue continues. Sounds like it's on it's way out.
-ITfag
>>710492533
Not op, but if all it's stopping is you being able to insert a cd drive then just buy a USB cd drive if you really need one or just don't have a cd drive. I don't on my desktop.
>>710492860
Is comp overheating?

My "problem" was choosing networking in a hospital when most issues are old dying ppl who lost the batteries to their tv.
>>710492860
Check your BIOS settings.
Wake on LAN is one that will do that, and there are more features that will do that in there.
>>710492984
Only my GPU is quite high, when palying video games. Nothing much though around 78 degrees celsuis. CPU is at like 50-60 and power supply is fine.
>>710492984
its nto inserting the cd drive its the shit that puts it in place that is in the way by less than an inch, there is even a dual exaust for a twin cooling system above the tower.
>>710493068
lol, just being made by the same company doesn't mean they'll fit together.
>>710493149
^this also, thanks :)
-ITfag
does overclocking limits(for the video card) have to do with the wattage in the power supply?
>>710493175
can you take a photo ?
-ITfag
>>710492177
it's steadily been worse and worse, even though i play the same games it's starting to lag more, wut do?
>>710492860
Is it set to "Restart" rather than "Shutdown"?
>>710493068
Just cause it's the same company doesn't mean it's compatible. Form factors exist.
>>710493164
>78 celsius
Sheesh, mine sits at 60 but 78 is still within operating temps so that wouldn't be the issue. If it's not overheating then I would double check all your PSU connections to the motherboard to make sure that they're secure and if they are then it's likely just a faulty PSU, one of the most likely things to go out.
>>710493175
Ya, then you're probably screwed. Trying to retrofit liquid cooling systems isn't a smart idea unless you have good tools and sealants. You could try to detach the drive bay if there's any screws or anything though.
>>710493456
Lag as in network issues or do you mean framerate hitches?
>>710493229
So going into the device manager and then network adapter. Went to properties then power management and took off the "Allow this device to wake up the computer". That might be it right?
>>710493364
Yes and no. Before building a PC use an online PSU calculator to see how much wattage you'll need, and ensure you go with a brand with a good track record (corsair for example).
Overclocking doesn't draw much more power at all, the increments are quite small.
>>710493489
Have the opportunity of both. Choosing shutdown though. And takes about 1 minute or so until it restarts.
>>710493567
I would personally suggest EVGA, good price for what they are.
>>710493537
You can disable it in the BIOS.
Also check if the OS has some scheduled update/check in place.
Why did my CPU run at 100 degrees Celcius on Windows and usually below 20 on GNU/Linux?
my pc always crashes when i dont play games (idle) i always have to run a game in the background
is there a way i can find out why it crashed (hardware or software)
>>710493535
I'll check in a min then. Thanks.
>>710493537
Yes, and also look in BIOS (hold DEL / F1 during boot) and disable it in there if it has the option

Genuine question.
I have an old Mac that I love using for my school work.
I went to update it as per usual, nothing out of the ordinary but upon restart it just didn't work? Called up Apple help but they just blamed it on my internet.
Everything's fine except when I click "continue with restart" it just fails and says something like "failed to sync with Apple.com" or something similar.
Tried manual restart and failure tests. Just nothing works. No backup either so I'm stuck in this perminant limbo of "continue to update .... failed ... try again?"
Any advice that isn't "Mac sucks" or "get a new computer" ?
>>710493686
That's really hot, even for Windows. Clean dust off the CPU fan, and change the thermal paste (youtube it) between the heat sink and the CPU die

>>710493837
Can you boot into recovery mode?
Turn it off, then hold down the Command (⌘) – Option (⌥) – R combination immediately upon hearing the startup chime.

Try to take off the fan sticker and see if you can get at the fan shaft, there might be a rubber plug in it -pull it out, if you can see the shaft, put some transmission fluid down in there, and then manually spin the fan for a minute or so.
The use something to remove the excess fluid, and rubbing alcohol on the surface so the sticker will go back on.

>>710494163
You've not necessarily lost it.
There is always a way to fix it, and I'm happy to offer my advice :)
I'd do the following:
- Remove the hard drive from the Mac (youtube how, it's not hard :) )
- Install a new hard drive, an SSD if you can (much, much faster). Create a bootable OSX El Capitan installer on a friends iMac (or have a local IT shop assist).
- Reinstall OSX onto the machine
- Buy a portable drive shell, and put the old hard drive in it
- Plug old hard drive into mac USB port, transfer files.

I hace this pc that turns off after five seconds and then it turns on again. Five seconds and it's off again. Just doing the same again and again.

Have you ran an sfc scan to see if Windows installed correctly? If it's a clean install and your internals are clean of any dust and debris then that's what I'd check next. Because most Linux flavors actually take more processing than Windows because they have to compile everything.
I would still double check background processes just in case, crapware and bloatware exist everywhere.
>>710494386
That depends what they are, some aren't really so critical. Find one that has to do with a crash (if you can) and post it's code.
>>710494493
Do you run a lot of background processes and/or have a lot of things set to start on boot that could be hiding in your system tray and eating resources?

The HDD usually doesn't slow the boot, unless if it has a higher priority in the boot device check.

External hard drive stopped loading on windows explorer, it justs hangs forever until I unplug it. I tried to take the HD out of it's case and plug it in a computer, still can't load shit.
No weird noises tho, I doubt it is a physical issue. I would try to restore it's MBR, but I'm afraid I will wipe everything and still not solve the problem.
>>710495318
Do you have a reflow station or access to one?
That's your best bet.
>>710494937
Have you checked for driver updates recently for the GPU and things?
Sometimes when you close them it doesn't actually stop them. I'd check your task manager to see what's running in the background. Will also show you how much of your RAM and processing power is getting eaten up by everything. If the percentages are pretty high then that's the culprit. Running a cleaner program to get rid of junk .tmp files and other useless things could also be good.
If it's not any of those then that leaves hardware. Check connections, make sure things are secure. If you have a GPU, try running it off of integrated graphics and see if the framerate is still bad. If it still is then you may be in trouble, if it gets better then it's likely your GPU.

Ten years is a long ass time for a PSU. Most only last for like three or four. New one is probably due, specially since they're not expensive.
>>710496262
First, unplug the reset button(easy).
Check the PSU is running normally buy checking it's voltage on every circuit by using a voltmeter
>>710496262
Make sure power cables are fully plugged in, and that the psu is big enough to power all the components.
If not, Google how to test psu, can do with paperclips and shit.

>>710496686
1. Look up your motherboard documentation and it'll tell you in there what the different sequences of beeps mean. However, does mean something's wrong.
2. Keep it rolled back then. Sometimes drivers aren't compatible with certain versions of OS until they've been patched.
>>710496813
Easiest thing is to make sure every cable is plugged in correctly and see if it persists. Following that, trying to use a known good PSU and see if the problem persists. If it still happens at that point then it's something else, potentially the mobo.

I have about about a terabyte of data consisting of about about 800,000 files in 132,000 folders in the main company share. I have 30 users modifying them almost constantly during business hours. I'm migrating the drive from an old server to a new server with minimal down time. I used DFS to sync them but something like 10,000 files failed to sync over, possibly because of long file names/paths. We only discovered this after the new server went live, so they spent a day modifying files in the new location while pointing out files that were missing as they went along. They were also pissed.
We cut the DFS sync, and used robocopy from the old to the new last night after everyone was out with the following options:
Options : *.* /S /E /DCOPY:T /COPY:DATSOU /XX /XO /XC /R:1000000 /W:30
The copy finished in about 2 hours, but now some users are saying files they changed yesterday reverted to the day before. How fucked am I? How would you fix it with no downtime during business hours?
Note: we have shadow copies of the changed files in the new location from before the robocopy, so we can restore them on an individual basis, but there's no telling how many or which ones need to be restored and I want to get them back before the users notice.

1. Try resetting the BIOS and changing some settings there so that the system loads the hard drive first before everything else.
2. Since you have both of these issues that are related to your PC not finding your hard drive, it might be that it's just physically broken somehow or old.
That said, if you have problems with your laptop try resetting the CMOS by unplugging your laptop and removing the main battery for at least 30 seconds.

That's what I figured, winload.exe is an important file during the boot process and without it your system will do pretty much exactly what you're describing.
If you can get into the command prompt then run an sfc scan and it should detect that winload (and potentially other files are missing) and allow you to repair with your USB.

I've tried different ports, uninstalling from device manager, even deleting (without emptying the recycling bin) the mouse drivers in system32. It actually said I had the right drivers even though they weren't there any more after I did that and it wouldn't download any updated ones. Using Logitech M100 USB mouse. >>710499680
More than likely the cable is starting to fray and break. Take it to a repair shop and explain the situation, but I'll warn you that it's almost more efficient to just get a new laptop. Screens aren't terribly expensive but the price the guy will charge for the repair might be pricey cause it's annoying as shit to do and there's no guarantee it will even work.
>>710499845
Are the ones that are effect a specific kind of USB? Such as 2.0 or 3.0? Because if the problem isn't with every USB stick then the issue is either bad sticks or your computer isn't recognizing a version of USB.
>>710499433
Normally if a PC starts up on the BIOS it means that a component is not connected properly - most likely the RAM or the hard drive. Try checking that.
Also, if you have several RAM sticks, you might want to start it up with one just to test it out, and then afterwards, stick in the second slot, because sometimes the slot itself might be faulty.
If there are no internal problems, it might be Windows itself. Since you can still log into your computer, you might want to back up all of your files and reinstall if you can.
