I'm not OP but I'm the one doing most of the vein work.
What I did was:
>open photoshop
>open hue/saturation
>put saturation to about 60-70
>put hue to dark blue
>change lightness depending on photo
>then go to color balance and set cyan to max (or close to max), about 75%-90% blue, and fiddle with magenta/green
basically fiddle about till the veins pop out
