GTA Online was the absolute trash. There like no content at all + getting money is an absolutely grind. Went into duping glitches at some point and that was still too grindy for me, so i abandoned this shit.

endless space is closest in feel, es2 is actually due out very soon and looks pretty good...
stars in shadow is due out soon and looks VERY good
galactic civilizations 2 is excellent and plays a lot like MoO2, including ship customization (3 is shit imo)

distant worlds: universe is probably my fav space 4X, it's quite different from other titles but definitely worth checking out
some other titles that aren't perfect, but worth playing for some of the features are star ruler 2 and polaris sector
not really 4X, but sins of solar empire is the nuts for anyone into space themed strategy games

I have only recently sat down and played Ocarina of Time, and I'm not going to lie it was great, but for a PS1 game, let alone a single disc to be as long as enthralling as Alundra was something else. This game. I played this from 1st grade to 6th until the disc broke. Even after objectively looking at it, it's still just an amazing game. In my biased but based opinion, it's better than the new Disgaea which this is a spin-off from. If you know this game, I love you. It's an actual hidden gem.

I would say you didn't play mount and blade enough to get a sense of how good it is. It's really made amazing by how the story emerges out of your actions and rise to power, so it takes some time. Also, it's similar to the elder scrolls games in that it's elevated so much by the modding community. If you can't get into the world it takes place in, I recommend finding an overhaul mod that changes the setting to one you can get excited about.

While I have no right to complain about FO3 and NV I have to say they are my least favorite. The character models were absolutely ugly for reasons I have yet to discover, clunky controls, weird ass bugs, crappy guns, lazy environments, and overly complicated mechanics.
