Consciousness is a bodily phenomenon, so it's an incoherent question.
Consciousness, i.e. what we call the mind, is just a result of numerous sensory stimuli, simplified into something we can view as separate from the body. But it really is just an illusion. When the body stops, the mind falls apart with it. We don't "continue on" and sadly lots of people can't come to terms with this. Don't you all think the world would be a much more peaceful and productive place if people could come to terms with death instead of choosing to believe a false story of an afterlife?

In science, a "theory" is a comprehensive explanation for a natural function, i.e. general relativity, evolution by natural selection, quantum field theory, etc.
Scientific theories are built with mathematical laws and detailed explanations, and must be massively supported by numerous experiments and valid predictions for them to be accepted as a theory by the scientific community.

There isn't any evidence or anything that suggests that there is something that will occur after death, so the safest and most logical assumption is to assume there is nothing. Just like how there was nothing pre-birth.
If you really wanted to hold onto the idea of an afterlife, some sort of repeating life cycle seems to be the most logical indication, as it seems that many aspects of our universe have a kind of expand-and-contract repeatedly sort of functionality.

It has nothing to do with being oblivious, if anything it shows how oblivious YOU are in thinking that some barely decent comedy on FX was the one to spawn the thoughts I posted as opposed to, you know, actual philosophers from 1,000+ years ago.
It's sad when people get every last bit of their "critical thinking" from tv shows, especially when they're shit-tier tv shows.

From a physicalist/materialist perspective, you won't exist as a living human in the future. However, from a physical perspective there's not much reason to privilege the future over the past.
You'll still exist in the sense that the number 5 exists even after you write it down and erase it or how Moby Dick would exist even if every copy of the book was burnt. To the extent that your defining characteristics are information rather than the physical medium that information is encoded on, you don't stop existing simply because the medium is gone.
