Religions developed a concept of an afterlife because humans are afraid of death and want to believe there is something else afterward. Other than that, there's not necessarily a whole lot of commonality between religious afterlives except that they happen after you die and usually reward or punish you in some way, but not for the same reasons. Valhalla for example it was glory as a warrior, raping and pillaging was fine. Morality is a man made concept. There's a reason it has differed throughout history and why it is different between cultures and even religions.
