I want to say 20 - 21, at 33 now. Up until two weeks ago I was a pretty bad alcoholic. Getting road beers at 9 a.m. to chug before college. Used to go on 3 day benders. Doing amphetamines, cocaine, anything to keep drinking. Drank for 24 hours one time. I like to marathon drink. I can feel my organs and I've taken alcohol to every limit I can. So it's time to get off it. I'm going to miss being a drunk. The most pleasant physical and mental state for me is being drunk.

I always liked alcohol but didn't become a heavy legit alcoholic lifestyle drinker until around 2008. I had good work at Intel doing software test engineering but because I was through an agency and not a direct hire I had to take a few months off every year. I decided to use that time to go down to CA and help on a medical grow, pay wasnt as good as actual work but it was pretty chill, and all the weed you could smoke out of the pile of imperfectly trimmed or too-small buds.
When I was taking off they offered me a deal to take some of my cash pay in product at greatly reduced cost. I said hell yes, I'll never have to pay for weed again. Unfortunately on the drive back to Portland my car's fuel filter clogged and I died on the side of I5 in Lane County. An officer helpfully pulled over to see if I needed assistance, smelled the weed, searched the car, found some of it (not all of it luckily, he found 1 pound in the trunk out of the 11, other ten were inside the back seat, was all I could fit) and I ended up catching a felony "delivery" (because I was driving) charge.
Intel wouldn't take me back, in fact no IT company would touch me, ended up working for a super shady company doing VPN custie/tech support called Baneki, owner turned out to be running a horse/dog rape farm, bailed on that shit when he went to prison, they owed me almost 15 grand in back wages when I left, at this point I was drinking heavily because I was super depressed. Even McD's doesn't want to hire felons.
I never really recovered and even though I ended up going back to school for a molec bio degree and have some good prospects I am still an alcoholic and sabotage myself all the time with my drinking. It sucks. I don't think I will ever be able to "just have 1 beer" again. I can't control myself.
