I always teach one of the advanced classes (either AP Calc BC or Multivariable Calc) and one of the lower level classes (typically either remedial geometry or remedial algebra 2). The third class I teach every year is a toss-up. All in all I've taught almost every math class we offer at least once.

I struggled with that class, but I did learn a few tricks from the proofs to teach algebra and calculus concepts like the diagram for into and onto for functions.

There's several types of linear algebra. There's the super basic one that my school had as a freshman class that's just row reduction and a handful of other things and everyone in STEM takes it, but then there was one that is more proofs based and is a junior level course, that's the one I'm referring to. In the latter, you focus on proving that something is or is not a vector space, you learn about rank and nullity and how they related to one to one and onto and study the rank-nullity theorem and eventually you learn how to solve Markov chains (I think we studied matrix exponentials a little too). That one absolutely was an upper level class, it was on the same level as the intro real analysis and intro abstract algebra classes I took.

When taught how to use separation of variables for the heat equation I naively thought that the answer would always be the same (not even thinking about how the boundary conditions could change). Be humble enough to go back as far as you need to with the basics, and perseverant enough to not give up when you're stuck. There are plenty of resources online to do achieve whatever your goals are. From actual PDF textbooks (simply google x topic pdf) to question-answer forums for one on one help. Khan academy and Paul's online math notes were indispensable for me. Think geometrically but work algebraicaly.
