I've played the Homeworld Camapign through like 5 or 6 times by now, and lately, I take my time. and capure every single enemy ship I can. It's a treat to get to the gardens and finally get a squad of multibeam frigates.
It's all over by the time I get to the mission where the Taidan have the huge base defended by like 100 ion frigates because i swarm them with corvettes and after that mission I can't build any more ships because I'll have like 150 frigates, lol
It is absolutely overwhelming on the final mission. I just barrel to the enemy mothership wiping out all resistance of the Taidaan empire, muahahahaha

The Missile destroyers are too much bullshit for me to salvage, I blow them up. The cruisers and ion frigates are a cakewalk to salvage though. and enough of those and a missile destroyer doesn't even make a dent with a wall of ion beams cutting through the hull like butter.

I find it's the ideal game to relax. Truck around while listening to podcasts / youtube on the background. This latest patch made combat more difficult. An anaconda with fighters will strip your shields like it was nothing.

In the campaign, I stay maxed out on ships. I don't even built frigates or capital ships beyond a carrier since I max out from salvage, so I have the gun corvettes and fighters for anything too fast for a big turret to track.
I put my frigates and capital ships in wall formation with my fighters and corvettes in sphere formation and just have them queued in the carrier.
The game is a nostalgic classic for me, I overwhelm it every time, and It takes me hours on most missions just out of the fun of maxing everything out.

I used the fitting site and the python i want would cost 220 mil to buy and fit with another 50 mil in the bank just for insurance. Until they fix the economy I'm not going to play it. It's more of a grind than subscription based games with premium currency and membership.
Right now I only fly a top fitted cobra and it doesn't excel in much but gets the basic stuff done.

X3 TC Cerberus. My first capital ship, not the biggest, but it gets the job done. It doesn't hold any other ships, but it's maneuverable enough and has enough exterior guns to take care of the smaller attack ships and my main cannons do a hell of a lot of damage to other capital ships.
