Personally I think moments like all of Senya's demons turning into copies of him when he tells them to take 'the most powerful form they can think of' to be better than a death.

It's just a general criticism of his narrative style. I liked it a lot, but this dude is tragedy-averse to a fault.
There was no comeuppance for hubris, no heroic sacrifice, nothing of the sort. Shakugan didn't even stay dead for a chapter, it was confirmed she was coming back within like 2 minutes. Jinka gets exactly what he wanted and lives forever despite basically making every imaginable karma inducing error you can make in a dramatic narrative. It's not even that nobody died—the protagonists all got exactly what they wanted.

I like dramatic proportionality. Cosmic justice, or at least assurance that there are real consequences for actions. It's not helped by the fact that the tribe of the void's entire backstory is predicated on a 4th wall breaking manifestation of this very idea. That it applies to them, these 2 bit, really largely powerless and tragic antagonists, but not to the hilariously OP, indiscriminate wrecking balls of the main cast, smacks of authorial favoritism. And more importantly, it makes me care about the characters less when it feels like there are no consequences for their actions. The plot armor is overwhelming and really detracts from the potential for pathos and empathy—because you and I are not invincible, immortal and all powerful.
