What's your most expensive hobby and much have you spent on it? Mine is sporting clays.
>$2500 gun (I also gave another one in a different gauge)
>$500 in modifications adjustable comb and buttplate)
>$350 prescription shooting glasses
>$200 custom shooting vest
>$300 worth of chokes
>$300 gun case and range bags
>$200-ish of other miscellaneous accessories
>$100/year membership to club
>$100/week on targets
>$100/week on ammo
Pretty crazy to put this shit out in a list. Give it a try.

Motocross, probably close to 50k worth of bikes, tools n' other shit in the garage.

Also, I feel the vests are a waste of money. A properly fitted stock and good stance are worth far more, imo.

Snowmobiling.
Sled retails around $15k. I got a good deal and the insurance check from the one I totalled helped with that purchase.
Bunch of aftermarket performance parts on it... probably $3k total. Not too bad considering.
I'm wearing/carrying about $4k in gear when I ride. Backpack and radio account for about half that.
Truck, about $30k.
Trailer, $7k.
Factor in the crates of extra parts/pieces in the garage... probably $6k worth of stuff in there. Cylinders, pistons, clutch parts, spare suspension parts, extra skis...
...Race entry fees and associated expenses with that... lodging, transportation costs...

Dropped a cliff, not big but kind of an off-camber launch. Landed about 20 feet below. Couple rocks that I could see, thought I was far enough away to be clear from them... nailed the landing, but smoked a rock buried just under the snow.
Punched a hole through the bulkhead/skid plate, whole sled kinda folded up. Motor mount squished out from the impact, engine made contact with the bulkhead brace, the shock of that fucked up the piston/cylinder.
Bulkhead was creased, tunnel was cracked, chaincase cracked, drive shaft was about 10° out and one of those bearings was thoroughly fucked. Rails were twisted.
Thank fuck for knee braces and the rest of my armor.

>>709120955
PC gaming.
Idk maybe $2500 all up? Until a few weeks ago I've never had much disposable income so my hobbies were pretty on the cheap.
MT/kickboxing. Probably anywhere between 1k and 1.3k just on personal gear alone (wraps, gloves, shingear, mouthpeices, headgear, cups, ankle wraps, knee and elbow pads)
Ive spent probably the same on bags, mitts and thai pads
kills my wallet but it feels so guud
I recent started racing quadcopters. It's not horribly expensive, but a lot more than I thought.
~$1000 for everything you need to get off the ground, plus ~$200 for the camera gear (AUD by the way).
It does get bloody expensive after a while though, since I'll probably break a lot of stuff crashing. The good goggles go for $600 too.
There's a lot of modifications I want to make too.
>>709124152
>$550 alcohol and tobacco
- Cut the tobacco. Save yourself future health costs and immediate cash drainage.
- Moderate your drinking to hard liqour or even brew your own beer like I did when I was poor as fuck (like holy fuck how do you even spend that much a week? Even if it's a month, that's a fair fucking amount).
- Consumables can be done better dude. I've seen worse but you can seriously shave a fair bit off while still eating healthy.
- Daughter expenses include things like sport memberships, clothes, school supplies etc?
>>709120955
Guns.
Probably spent around ~$2k on my guns and another couple grand on ammo so far. I'm that guy who shows up with a semi-auto AK and makes it sound full auto while still being fairly accurate. I know I blow a lot of money on my guns though so itemizing it wouldn't actually be that surprising to me even if I really could. it's a hobby I'll never give up regardless of if I'm shooting paper or some poor fool trying to victimize me.
PC gaming is probably higher overall cost but that's spread over a much longer period.
Hobby is for fun right, so not business?
On the water without counting the house to launch closer to offshore about 500k, counting jet skis and the tri hull at the lake house (see where I'm going here?)
Guns - inherited alot, got civil war cannon, original gatlin gun, too much to list really.
Alcohol - inherited HUGE wine cellar, appraised too much to say ;)
Anyways, most expensive hobby? Kids. Cost more than everything, worth more than all.

Same here, been playing for about two years. No idea how much I've spent total, but I don't think it's 4k yet. I don't go as wild as some players. But that's also because I'm poor af.
>$600 main edh deck
>$400 in personal cube I've built
>$300 currently in binder
>$200 in other edh decks
So that's 1.5k in assets. My main love is limited though. I've spent probably around $500 total at two Grand Prixs and one Star City Open. I've been to every pre-release since Fates, and been drafting at least once a week for about a year. When you count up all the other miscellaneous bullshit, I guess it's probably around 3k so far.

>What's your most expensive hobby and much have you spent on it?
Most expensive hobby by far is torturing and killing hookers. I used to do this for free with homeless people but there wasn't enough challenge or risk involved. Now I travel the US and find hookers, tell them I'm going to pay to fuck them, then get them drunk/high or sometimes just roofie their drink, and then it's torture time!
$36,372 on travel to not have easily traceable patterns of murder and mayhem
$43,281 on two dungeons where I'll take girls. One on the east coast, one on the west coast. Cost includes the spaces, reverse sound proofing, restraints, power tools, so on
$12,433 on cleaning supplies and cleaning rentals (wet/dry vac, steamer, carpet shampooer)
$175k approx to keep a few key people in key positions (cops, lawyers, judges) quiet and happy, allowing me to continuemaking the world a better place
i'm a kombucha mushroom person, it's really cheap
>>709129603

>>709128948
Just shut the fuck up. Unless you have lived your whole life on a deserted island with zero human contact, built your own custom designed instrument to play music you created, and created your own methodology of music, then you are standing on the shoulders of countless generations of musicians that have preceded you. You are not unique or special by voluntarily inhibiting the rate at which you learn.
I was taught trumpet for seven years, four of which i spent with an ex army band turmpeter and bugler, and afterwards proceeded to teach myself guitar with videos and tabs.
Having someone who is more proficient than you only expedites the process by which you accumulate the same information you would be learning anyway. To deny yourself this advantage for the sole purpose of gloating is to cut off your nose to spite your face. If you don't have the funds or time, that's one thing, but to delude yourself into a sense of superiority is naivete. The work is just as hard, the muscles still need to be built and trained, calluses still need to be formed, the neurological pathways still need to be laid.
Dipshits.

After hearing years of rhetoric from a gun control fan, I spent one year and my entire life savings creating a .45 Thompson scaled up to take 12-guage shotgun slugs. I invited him over, loaded it with bullets I bought from a friend who MADE gun ammo and demonstrated it in my back yard... a full-auto shotgun that looks like a Tommy Gun. After surprising him with the gun, I showed him my basement workshop where I created it, the books I used to replicate a .45 Thompson and the paperwork I did to scale it up. He suddenly changed his mind to how futile gun control is in disarming people who want guns, only taking them out of the hands of people who respect the law. Silver lining: He bought it off me to stop me from selling it to get part of my savings back.

As a non-smoker I don't understand why anyone would say that, I mean, vaping is literally the non-asshole way to smoke. Cigarettes are the worst fucking shit ever invented and vapeing just removes all the cons (except it's still unhealthy) why would anyone say that? Were these huge anti-vapeing campaigns/propaganda from tobacco companies in the US or something? To me it seems like the uneducated United States has yet again believed some retarded propaganda. What disturbs me the most is that, except the occasional "hurr durr everyone likes (X) so I decided hate it!" threads, /b/ has a lot of decently smart people. Yet EVERYONE shits on vapeing. Ginger beer is cheaper at $20
