Now we only have certain types of restricted firearms we can own but have to be registered. the AR15 is an example, its a long gun but because someone in office thinks its scary looking we have to register them to a data base for the rcmp. The entire "gun show loophole" is one example. When the Brady Bill was signed into law, private party transfers being exempted was specifically included in the bill as a "compromise" to get the bill past. Now, in 2016, they're trying to remove the exemption by calling it a loophole. But it's not a loophole, it was specifically exempted as part of a compromise. Today's compromise is tomorrow's "loophole" which is why we should NEVER compromise on gun rights.

Two teenage brothers are home alone one night and this woman with a busted up face comes to their door screaming. They let her in and her husband had beat her shit and they hid her in a closet. The guy comes to their house with a shotgun and they both stand in the door and tell him to fuck off. He goes to shoot the younger one but the older one jumps in front of his brother and takes the majority of the shot. Kills the older one and paralyzed the younger one from the waist down. Husband ran off and was confronted and killed by the police. Everyone involved was white and not poor. I went to the funeral. Everyone in town did. This kinda thing might never happen to me or you. But never say just because it hasn't that it never could.
