If I didn't have all this debt, I could afford to live comfortably on my own. Before you judge, I ended up having to drop out of college halfway through to help support my family after my dad's business started to fail. I ended up with student debt and no degree to show for it, and the family business never really made a full recovery so it's hard to save up not knowing if we'll be able to make rent next month or not.
What's funny is it actually looked like things might have gotten good enough that I would have been able to move out. I got onto a wait list at these nicer but cheaper apartments (hence the waiting list), but ended up turning them down when my name came up after things took another dive at our business. It's looking like we're going to be going under for good this time.
