Allow me to introduce you to "Cog".
The old familiar pain washed over the fluffy as she entered labor. This wasn't her first rodeo, she knew what to expect when she began to feel the need to make "biggest poopies". She focused on her task in solitude until her womb was once again void of the feeling of life. The wanting chirps of her brood fell on deaf ears as they plead for maternal comfort in the birthing/waste trough at the back of the crate.
Once again free of the wriggling foals and the amniotic fluids that had ballooned up her pregnant body; the mother slumped down in equal parts exhaustion and relief. On average, most female fluffies only successfully breed five times in their lifetimes before a naturally produced hormone sterilizes them. But this fluffy, with her hormones unnaturally overstimulated, just delivered her eighth litter. The constant toll exacted on her body in her short year and a half of life at the fluffy mill had weakened her immune system and drastically shortened her lifespan. This would be her final litter, not that she felt any maternal attachment to them or anything. Such is the life of a broodmare.

The mare grunted under her breath as one of the newer mothers in a crate near her own began begging to be allowed to see her own newborns. The new mothers always did that, especially ones who were former pets. Ferals, rejects, orphans, experiments... fluffies from all walks of life were bred in the facility, all cogs in the endless cycle of suffering. All babies born here were destined for medical and pharmaceutical research labs, never to feel their mother's warmth and love. However, the truly unfortunate ones would carry on the torch as breeding stock at the mill when a vacancy needed filled and would live their entire lives in their own personal three cubic foot hell.

The gestation crates the fluffies called home were nothing more than modified pet carriers, though "sorry boxes" would also be an accurate description. They were small enough that the fluffies couldn't turn around or stand fully upright in, and there was a slight incline in the rear which allowed waste and newborns to pass through into a collection trough. The sides of the crates were solid plastic instead of wire, thus the only outside view a breeder ever got was directly ahead of them, and even then all they could see was the grey dividing walls between breeding blocks. As a mare's pregnancy progressed she would be squeezed tighter and tighter by the confines of the crate as her body swelled with fluid, causing no shortage of pain and distress until she finally gave birth.

The choice in layout of the mill was by design to suppress the fluffies' natural herd instinct and to curb undesirable behaviors such as "smarty syndrome". Without play objects, stimulation of any kind to occupy their minds, visual interaction from other fluffies and limited interaction from workers who never spoke to the fluffies themselves, the breeders would be emotionally destroyed in short order and have no choice but to accept their fate. Harry Harlow couldn't have done a better job himself at emotionally crippling these biotoys with his "Pit of Despair" experiments a century earlier.

Of course just because the fluffies weren't allowed to interact with each other physically, it didn't stop some of them from talking or singing to each other or their unseen offspring. But, as was always the case, their spirits would only hold out for so long. Without reciprocation of their advances or praise of any kind from the rarely seen passing human worker, the new admissions would slowly fall into deep depression and the entire breeding block would be eerily silent once more save for the occasional sobbing or squeaky fart. Day after day, week after week, month after month, the palpable sadness was unrelenting.
The new mother eagerly began to sate her hunger on the tasteless dry kibble she had been denied for a few days due to her immobility. Her automatic food receptacle had jammed and needed wiggling to remove the blockage. But unable to move herself in her pregnancy she had gone hungry over the weekend until she gave birth and relieved the crushing pressure from her swollen sides. Her newborns yet chirped for their own food and attention in the trough behind her. They were not her concern.

Her eyes had only been open a day or so before all the fluffies were separated into isolation cubes and weaned until they were old enough to breed a month and a half later. She had never been so sad to be separated from the others, that is until she was moved to the breeding block.
The mare snorted in renewed depression and leaned her face against the Plexiglas front of her cell. Reflecting on those bright moments in the baby fluffpile and what she lost always made her want to die. She didn't need to vocalize it anymore, none of the veteran broodmares did, because it was always assumed. Still, though, whenever she gave birth she would daydream and wonder what colors her babies were, if they were the same color as her or if they might have been one of the other colors she barely recalled from the incubator fluffpile. She also wished she knew what each color was actually called, including her own color which incidentally was pink.
Later in the morning the mare could hear footsteps behind her crate. Even though she couldn't see anything she knew it was one of the humans coming to take all the babies away. One by one she heard their chirps grow frantic and muffled and then grow distant as the footsteps led them away to their uncertain fates. The mare never stirred from her emotionless daydream. There was no point to otherwise.

The day progressed as usual, mares crying, mares shitting out babies, mares shitting out shit, the same old story. But a sudden jolt and a metallic cranking noise above her snapped the sullen mare out of her stupor and instilled in her an emotion she hadn't felt in ages - fear. She trembled as an unidentified noise rattled her cage back and forth, tapping and cursing until finally lifting her entire enclosure into the air with a lurch. She involuntarily made scaredy poopies which poured haphazardly out of the back slot of the kennel.
"FUCK! God damn shitrat!" scowled the gruff maintenance worker who immediately passed along a cleanup order to janitorial over his two-way radio. The mare, oblivious to what was happening, continued trembling in fear as a blanket was thrown over the front of her cage and cast her into darkness. She could feel she was moving but could not even fathom to where or why.
When the movement finally stopped, the mare's perked ears struggled to gather information on her surroundings, but the sound of her own rapid heartbeat was pulsing in her skull. A few noisy metallic snapping sounds later and the cage was hefted upwards violently at an angle, spilling the mare from her prison down through the velvety friction of the blanket. She screeched in fear as she fumbled around in the grip of the fabric, her legs numb from disuse. After a few moments of struggling she finally managed to free herself from its surprisingly comforting constraints into... into...

The mare blinked her wide eyes in disbelief. All around her were pretty colors and shapes. Once again she began trembling, the overstimulation too much for her. She turned her head in all directions taking in the sights, the pretty smells. She had no description for what she was feeling at that moment. Shakily she sat upright for the first time in over a year and attempted a few trial steps towards a pretty round object that looked almost like her own color. Its shape beckoned her to awkwardly amble forward. As she slowly approached it her muzzle curled upwards at the sides. She didn't realize she was almost smiling, the feeling more of a genetically programmed response rather than genuine hapiness. And then she stumbled into the Plexiglas barrier that separated her from the rest of the room. Startled and confused she nuzzled it with her face and ran her hooves across it with gentle taps. Her semi-smile faded as she silently mouthed the word "ball" for reasons she couldn't explain as she stared at it futilely from within her new playpen prison.
Just then the sound of a door opening caught her attention. A tall human "lady" walked in with a small box and leaned over the invisible walls and placed it in the middle of the blanket. The mare backed into a corner defensively, farting in fear. The woman only shot her a fleeting smile before silently walking out of the room again. The mare followed her with her eyes and did not surrender her position even after she had exited.
"Chirp."

The mare's eyes snapped immediately onto the small box. She watched in fascinated horror as it jolted a bit and made familiar sounds. Slowly and cautiously she approached the mysterious parcel, recoiling and nearly wetting herself every time a "chirp" called out. Then without warning the little box tipped over and a small colorful thing fell out, wriggling in the blanket. The mare screeched in terror and ran backwards full force into the barrier trying to escape.
"Chirp. CHIRP!" cried the newborn.
As the mare hyperventilated in the corner the repeated sound seemed to awaken something within her. Her desperation to flee was overcome by some unexperienced emotion and she cautiously sat and observed this new thing.
"Chirp."
What was that sound?
"Chirp. Chirp-CHIRP! Chirrr..."
It was so familiar. It couldn't be...
"Chirp."
"B... bab..." the mare mouthed. She had never seen one before, she had no idea if she was right or not but it was making the sound like one. "Bab... b... babbeh?" she surmised, her voice painful and weak from disuse. At once the little bundle responded and its distressed cried for attention grew louder. The mare's jaw hung slack and she slowly waddled towards the newborn, keeping her distance just in case.
"Am... babbeh?" she weakly questioned.
"Chirp! Chirp. Chirp!" the baby fluffy sounded.
The mare, long suppressed of her maternal instincts, had no idea how to respond. She had never been shown love, and thus had no idea how to show love in return. She stared at the little biotoy in utmost fascination, comparing its mustard yellow color against her own and sniffing at it. Ah, its smell! It smelled like her. It took a moment for that to sink in and the fluffy visibly mulled it over in her mind.

The fat, bald, angry human mister reached into the enclosure and snatched up the baby and passed it to the sad faced human lady. The mare screeched in terror as the man stepped into the enclosure with her and grabbed her by her mane.
"And you! I hope you’re ready for your promotion." sneered the grimacing man as he sprayed something painful into her face. The mare coughed and rubbed her eyes but her limbs were so heavy and she was so suddenly tired and...

It had been several years since the mare had been evicted from her crate. What she had traded in boredom and loneliness she had gained in constant pain. As just another fluffy in the milkbag block, the mare's hyper productive teats were in constant use by random newborns. Hormonally enlarged to maximize profit, they were permanently locked into the milker and siphoned into the small nipple receptacles in the incubator below. Because the milker was "on-demand" it operated as soon as a baby fluffy began suckling. The suction would continue even if the mare's supply ran dry and the numbing pain would persist until the hungry newborn gave up, which never happened often enough.
Were that the full extent of the mare's suffering she would be grateful. But, sadly for her, it was only one aspect of her new position. The obvious change was the amputation of her limbs. In her old station she had legs but nowhere to go. Now she could oversee the vastness of the nursery and yet was ironically immobile. Occasionally she would get a phantom pain in her stumps if a nerve became agitated. The lingering muscle spasms would drive her to scream out in agony if she were able to.

The intubation into her mouth both served her liquid nutrients and prevented her from verbally interacting with any of the baby fluffies in her care. The tube was rigid and forced her head upwards in an uncomfortable angle and the slurry she was force-fed was even more disgusting than the dry kibble she had previously subsisted on. She eventually grew accustomed to the diarrhea this new food gave her. And speaking of...
Another tube inserted in her rectum ensured that all of her waste was properly disposed of and avoided soiling the cleanliness of the nursery. Of course the timed pressure valve was a bit unnecessary. Whoever had calibrated her food/waste lines had set the variables just "slightly" off what would be considered regulation standards. Each morning the helpless mare was force-fed such a large serving of feed that it left her belly painfully gorged. And by no small accident her waste tube only functioned at midnight, leaving her unable to expel her liquid suffering throughout the entire day. Her insides gurgled and groaned constantly as she tried in vain to gain relief from the unyielding bloat.
But the worst part of everything was the constant drone of chirping, a sea of newborn white noise that reminded her from sunrise to sunset that she would be tied to this existential hell for the rest of her life, which was still a few years down the line. At least her tear ducts still worked, a self-lubricating cog in the nightmare machine.

It's what's called a Jellenheimer. In the early days of fluffies, some of them were really poorly drawn and they looked like the creature in the picture.
Eventually, people started calling them Jellenheimers and they were simply mutant cannibals before the cannibal fluffies that exist today came into existence.
Now, they have more supernatural elements ascribed to them, such as psychic powers, for example and are used more in weirdbox stuff, in addition to retaining the cannibal traits.
