I have never considered therapy, many have nightmare stories with it. Some therapists will help, many will be looking for a reason to report you. Check mandatory reporting laws in your state first. I had a conversation with my mom a while ago about pedo/hebe philia and she said that when she was young it was considered a bit strange but it wasn't illegal. I am quite close with my parents so I feel that I would be able to express what I feel. I suspect they already kind of have a clue seeing as I haven't had girlfriends after being 14 years old myself and haven't shown any interest in girls my age after that.
I find it quite difficult to deal with the image I have of other pedophiles being monsters, the scum of the earth, even though I share the same urges. Yeah it's all because the narratives about how we are portrayed are set in stone, so no one can "come out" and have an open discussion. So then the only exposure comes from arrested child molesters and even worse, that scum who raped and killed that infant not long ago.
