Fellow alco here. I drink a pint of Jagermeister a day, sometimes buy a shooter of fireball for when the Jager is gone. Some days I'll buy a fifth and just drink til I pass out, usually kill 2/3rds of it. Tonight I'm going to a bday party and will probably drink crown or jack Daniels. After that I'll probably go a couple days without drinking, just for recovery purposes, then start it all again.
Really want to quit though. Life just sucks and all my friends are drunk bastards so it's hard not to join them.

Yeah. I'm Eastern European and my parents drink daily. Usually they'll have two 2L bottles of beer a day and sometimes have wine or vodka, too.
I moved to Germany in January 2015 from a country where beer is not the strongest asset.
I ended up drinking around 4 to 6 beers per day after working hours (9to6) and in the weekend around double the amount.
Now I stopped buying beer for home, i get along with a bottle of wine once per month but kept drinking in social contexts.

I am an alcoholic. I tried to cut it for my girlfriend. She deserves more than a retarded piece of shit. For a while I managed to do it, but at some point I failed and because of that I made her cry. She kind of got used to it and doesn't mind it as long as I'm not being a retard and as long as I take care of myself. Last time I was REALLY drunk was this sunday, when I made my own mix at a party "so I can feel it" and my girlfriend carried me home. I feel kind of ashamed by it but she didn't mind. It kind of sucks because I need 3 beers to get the effect I got from one, you know, and that means a lot of money. And I'm poor. And it's annoying that when you try to get rid of your addiction, you can't because everyone reminds you of alcohol. For e.g. : You decide you want to watch a movie on TV : beer ad. I'm a lonely alcoholic. I drink two 1.75L bottles of vodka per week. Some nights only about 200ml, other nights I'll drink over 1L... I used to just drink somewhat normally, but then after 4 years living with my girlfriend, we broke up. So for the last 8 months since we broke up I've been sitting at home, not going out, not seeing my friends... I just come home and drink. Watch Netflix, play Fallout 4, listen to Pandora, pass out, get up, go to work, rinse and repeat.
I don't know what my problem is. I thought that after a few months of not being with my girlfriend things would get better. But I miss her more every day.

A bunch of untrained fellow drunks telling their shitty stories, then preaching all you have to do is "work on" these steps based on 1930's pop psychology (which says you only feel shitty because you've hurt someone else, or haven't given yourself over to the Lord Jesus Christ). Oh, and if you feel the need to drink, all you have to do is go to an AA meeting. I'd always stop at the liquor store on the way home.

I thought about going to AA once when I was blacked out and saved the local schedule in a pdf file that was just a bunch of numbers (1892379.pdf or something) and forgot about it. I made a new resume with a similar pdf file name and ended up sending the AA schedule to all the jobs I was applying for attached to a well written and thoughtful email. Didn't get a job for months until one of the potential employers had the good graces to send me a reply about the AA schedule. Good times.

I binge drink. I buy a handle, and proceed to drink it, glass by glass, hour by hour, day by day until it's gone. Drink all day until I pass out, wake up, continue drinking, rinse and repeat. Bottle's empty, I don't drink for weeks afterward, and don't particularly miss it. Then some stressor rears it's ugly head and I do it again. This has been fairly constant for the last few years.
What make you of this? This cut and dry alcoholism? The "not even thinking about it for a week or two or three" afterward is what boggles me
