Maintancefag at a hospital. Contactor for a chiller just blew the fuck up, I was near it but not too close. Still about shit myself, thought I was gonna for a second there. Didn't happen to me OP but I work at a printshop in illinois, we produce gift cards for various companies like Home Depot and Best Buy to name a few.
Loose glove on one of the feeders got caught in the older model 10 color we had (no safety guards on the ductor rollers [top of the unit where ink is drawn from])
His arm upto his shoulder got sucked into the press before it jammed up, the space between the rollers is smaller than a piece of a paper.
Completely destroyed his arm.
Pic related, hand got caught in the top and worked its way down.
Best of all is we have to take the rollers out while he sits there and the paramedics just watch.
>>708523722

>>708523975
It depends where you get caught in, as you can see from the diagram you could be wound around a roller.
this is what the side view of a unit looks like from the inside, going down from the top you're almost guaranteed to lose your arm because it's going to going through a snake of different paths.
There are soft rollers (light grey) and ceramic rollers (white with black circles), you can get lucky depending on where you get caught and miss all the hard rollers or get unlucky and get pulverized.
tl;dr his arm is gone. Every bone was pulverized into a ton of pieces, arm flopped out when we got it out, then swelled the fuck up.
My current pressmen got his hand jammed in a press and all he has is some minor immobility in his fingers.
>>708521621
Used to work in the dorm cafeteria for a very large university. Probably served like 2000 per meal. They put the dirty trays on this conveyor belt. One guy tried to get it started when it got stuck. Got his hand caught in a chain and gear. I guess he was down there screaming a while. I think he was ok, just broken bones. Luckily it was a chain and not two gears.

Moron "sysadmin" was dicking around with a dell server... For some reason thinks its a good idea to pull the raid controller out of the machine while it's powered up and running.
Then, pulls the power puts the card back in and boots the machine up.
Of course the raid controller complains about the config not being right (no battery)
So, rather than loading the config from disk, he proceeds to initialize the drives...

From the looks of the T2 lug extension, it's been getting hot for a while. L2 looks like it might have been overtorqued and the conductor damage caused the blowout. The insulation damage on L1 is interesting, it doesn't seem like there should have been time to cause that.
>>708526298
T2 took the brunt of the damage, bad angle but the damage you see on L1 is actually what's left of L2

>Let's say you're dry-fitting a split core CT on a main service because you are retrofitting a power quality monitor in a building.
>1200A main so you pick a 1500:5 CT
>Current transformer primary turns ratio: Is=Ip(Np/Ns)
>A 1500:5 CT has one primary turn and 300 secondary turns. In a full current situation, it will output 5A
>If we were to create a dead short (with a shorting plug for example), the output voltage would drop to effectively 0.
>If we were to connect a small burden such as an ammeter with an internal resistance of 0.2Ω:
>Vs=Is*Ra
>1V=5*0.2
>Since the secondary of the current transformer is connected across a load, which has a very small resistance, the voltage drop across the secondary winding is 1.0 volts even at full rated primary current.
>If we were to remove the burden, the CT acts as a step-up transformer.
>This creates a very high voltage in the secondary winding. It can be calculated by Vp(Ns/Np)
>In a 3 phase system:T.R.=n=Vp/Vs=Np/Ns
>Therefore Vs=Vp(Ns/Np)
>Plugging in our numbers:
>480(300/1)
>144000V
That's 144 kV if you have an open circuit CT.

A car battery can supply a shitload of amps but it won,t kill you because it is only 12 volts and internal resistance will not allow that much amperage the flow power outlet can supply 15 amps far under what a car battery can but will kill you because a higher voltage allows more amperage the flow through.
>>708521621
I weld up freight rail cars.
There's one position where the car is clamped into two large machines on either end of the bulk heads and it can be 'turned' (rolled) like a log in water or on a lathe for optimal weld position (flat).
Anyways. When the car is turned on it's side, people work at heights of about 16 feet, (width of the car usually) and they use welding machines suspended at that height if not more.
The machines hold an above average size spool of wire, about 70lbs.
Well, on my first week working there some idiot forgot to 'secure' the spool, and while he was welding the spool fell on some dudes back. Look down and there this old guy probably in his 50s convulsing on the ground.
He lived, doctors were amazed he was alive as well.

the bars are around 8x2cm, spaced about 30cm.
the pliers were big water pump pliers.
welded almost half through the copper, pliers were bent and visibly worn from glowing.
the effects were from the exploding molten copper, your 300kV will kill easily by arcing through the body, the 60V bars can be touched.

In a remote location testing steel plate via explosives. Last shot of the day, we gather all of our stuff, techs go around to the blast side to collect blast wire lead. We (6-7 guys) are gathered around the van talking. KABOOM and then we hear a woop woop woop sound KABLAM metal cover hits the frame of the van inbetween the window (somehow doesnt break the window) launches in the air about 15 feet and lands in the middle where we were talking. Oh shit the techs must have blew themselves up, we run around the other side, we run into them, "you guys alright?" Yes, everyone over there okay? Yes. WTF happened? Techs: we put all the spare explosives in a metal ammo can (2' cube) secured the top and blew it up, thats where the lid came from.

>Cart pusher
>Other cart pusher is psychopathic redneck
Felt like I might die every day at work from either getting hit by a car, being shot and mugged by drunks, being stabbed by other cart pushers, or from sleep deprivation because working 8 hours a day doing that shit and going to school is some serious fucking bullshit and I can confirm that anyone who says they worked 8 hours a day or more every day for a week and goes to school, and fucked bitches all the while paying fora place to live is a god damn mother fucking lying son of a bitch.

>Guys at shop load heavy product onto a trailer for shipment
>Trucker has everything chained and tightened
>decides he has to adjust the shims on the trailer
>these fuckers hook a crane up to the product and proceed to pick it up again
>literally lifting the product plus lifting the trailer by the tie-down chains attached to the product
>tie-down chain breaks
>ohfuck.mov
>trailer crashes to ground, is fucked
>product shoots up a bit, luckily crane holds it and it's undamaged

Ok my last workplace was a fucking death trap. >working as a day labourer on a construction site.
>This is a shitty job but it's the best I could do having no experience.
>Anyway we had to go up on this dangerous as fuck scaffolding that was essentially assembled by a bunch of cunts with the mental age of toddlers
> one of my coworkers is on the top scaffold
> dumb cunt scaffolder decided to just use a piece of plywood instead of metal boards that screw into the frame
> My coworker falls the fuck through the plywood and only barely manages to grab on to the scaffold and pull himself back up
> boss fires him rather than fill in the health and safey form
> Everyone is just like ''wtf a man nearly died''
> Lazy scaffolders chuckling like school girls
>Be me working at fab shop a years ago
>I normally run the over-head cranes but spoopervsior says let the new guy drive
>Sure, why not
>Instruct the new guy how to attach the C-Clamp before lifting the 40x20" 1/4 mild-steel sheet
>Have him double check because shitty equipment
>He says s'all good
>Everything is smooth
>Homeboy going to fast
>Clamp completely breaks and sheet metal drops instantly on right calf all the way down. Blood errrwhere.
He didn't lose the leg but has a limp for life.

But seriously, that was hard to read without punctuation.
Is the idea that the drills catch onto the gloves and pull your fingers in?
