Your eyesight is not good enough to see that far. Learn about how perspective works. It's the same reason a ship disappears over the horizon - it doesn't disappear over any "curvature", but simply beyond the vanishing point of perspective. Furthermore, conditions and atmosphere play a huge role in how far you can see. Some islands can be seen over 85 miles away, and that should be impossible because they should not be visible beneath the supposed curvature of the Earth.

There is no such problem.
Both orbit the sun, closer to the sun than the Earth. This being the case, you would expect to only ever see them close to the sun in the sky, and you would expect to see Venus sometimes further from the position of the sun in the sky than Mercury ever gets, since Venus orbits further out from the sun than Mercury.
This is in fact what you can see.
Further, because Venus and Mercury are closer to the sun than we are, you'd predict that they would show phases, like the moon -- when they are on the far side of the sun from us, we see the full lighted side of the planet, when they are on the same side of the sun as we are, but of course closer to the sun that we are, their night side is towards us and the become thinner and thinner crescents. You can observe this for Venus easily with a relatively strong set of binoculars or a small telescope.
Planets further from the sun than we are always have their night side turned towards the outside of the solar system, more-or.less away from us. Toy would predict that they never show visible phases... and guess what!

I've been around the world a number of times on aircraft carriers and submarines, both. I was good friends with the guy who did our navigation on the sub.
The method they use for plotting our courses would, frankly, be COMPLETELY IMPOSSIBLE on a flat earth. The times in which we sailed the Southern Hemisphere would be COMPLETELY IMPOSSIBLE if the earth was flat and the north pole was the center. Or if it was flat AT ALL.
