There are many different belief systems and definitions of magic.
From religous magic like miracles, or voodoo and santaria. (Those last two are probably more placebo magic)
Illusion can be used to create situations where the viewer will believe you wield magic.

For the most part magic is about will.
You will your desires to exist.
You over come the will of others or of higher powers.

What's understood and well defined is called technology.

Technology can appear magickal to those whom dont understand it. But this is mostly a thing of the past, because most of the grassroot level technology has been mapped out ages ago. So there is no traditional magick that involves potions, poisons or actions that enhance materials. You know, things which are in todays world called chemistry or nano technology. Instead magick in todays world is just this "if i pray to myself or some entity i'll be a millionare" kind of thing, which of course doesn't work and will never work.
