Had one.
It was fun, but ultimately not practical.
Insurance was ridiculous (British Cuckadian here).
Just not practical for daily use.
I ended up selling it after I got a gf and bought a camera and using the left over to split the cost of a mini van with the gf.
Mini van so much better. Grocery shopping isn't a nightmare anymore. Insurance isn't a nightmare. We can go out of town to camp sites and just pull up in the minivan and that's it. Sleep in the back. No fuss no muss.
Kinda wish I never bothered with the bike but I guess every guy goes through that phase.

take your budget. 250 is the slowest but looks like a sportbike, the rest are standards and the power is linear like a car. more twist = more power. dont start on a 600 or big v twin.

I used to ride the shit out of dirtbikes where there were no cars around. I don't trust other drivers. One 16 year old girl texting at the wrong time and you are dead or in a Christopher Reeves wheelchair. There are too many Asian drivers, old drivers, and clowns racing around in beat up cars who think they are Paul Walker on the road. I have never ridden a street bike and I never will.

Take a look at slalom times and pure cornering speeds of lightweight cars like a lotus elise or mazda miata compared to heavy cars with a ton of rubber, but minimal suspension sophistication.
