Worst thing I can say thats happened to me, is that like how my mom was never able to fully give me things that came so easy to other parents. Like a permanent place of residence, I've been homeless with my mom more times than I can count, we've lived in moving trucks, homeless shelters, I even spent a few days at a friend's house, while she "figured" something out. I thought it was all behind me after I moved out, got a job and stopped talking to her, but incidentally enough. I got fired, and had to move back in with her. Though even after all these years she hasn't changed. She's still on the verge of homelessness, and I'm just drinking a lot to not think about it. Take solace in what you have. A few years back i remember getting into an arguement with my parents for some money to take the train to work. They yelled at me and told me Im bad with money so I borrowed some cash from my little sister. Its late on either a monday tues or weds night and i begin to cry because i was harsh with my mother, took money from my sister, drank myself silly, and at that exact moment, i felt complete and total despair. I felt like i had no control over my life and that i was destined to be a piece of shit. I was about 18 in the east village. What made me stop crying was that a person sat next to me. I also started writing about my despair and immense feeling of having lost the potential that my younger version believed I had.

The main problem I had about being poor was having to work full time just to break even on expenses during my teens and 20s, so I missed out on a lot of dating.
My job eventually started paying off when I got into my early 30s, and now I'm pretty well off.
But you never get those years back - having the youth, time, and money to have freewheeling fun before the chores of adulthood take over.
