I used to love Ren and Stimpy as a kid, but I was old enough by the time spongebob came out that I was like, "too grown up" for it or whatever. you know how that childhood hubris goes....
Well, out of nostaliga the other day I went back and watched some old VHS tapes I made of ren and stimpy, and I was taken aback at how completely similar it is to spongebob.
Hyped up and likeable skinny protagonist, and fat stupid sidekick/friend and all about silly situations and goofy stunts and overdetailed closeups for comedic value.
Literally the same basic show. It blew my fucking mind since I remembered it being really clever and cool.
