It can be, depends on who you work with and your the lowest on the totem pole on a boat with probably 5-8 crewmates, also depends on location and quality of the boat. I have a HP Compaq NC6000 lying around. I tore the fan connector off but it still works when I glue it back in.
It has an IDE drive, and runs XP - It's an old enterprise unit which got junked - It belonged to a pharmacy worker and still has her photos on it.
