Not really. The AR 15 was created by Eugene Stoner when he worked for Armalite. When Colt bought the patent they changed a few things on the rifle and dubbed it the M16. So it's not an true blue AR 15 just cause Colt made it. The true AR 15 is Mr. Stoner's original rifle design
