Sometimes my calves do the exact thing he is talking about
One time was particularly bad. Every time it happens my calves flex as hard as physically possible, veins popping out etc. Additionally every time it makes my calves hurt like crazy for a week after. This time it lasted a solid 60 seconds of agonizing pain, my wife had no idea what was going on and thought I was dying and almost called an ambulance
I ended up going to the hospital after that
They took an xray and apparently I fractured one of my calf bones vertically from that last cramp
