I'm referring to the fact that you HAVE to have natural rhythm to play bass. You can't learn that. I am a good guitar player, been playing for years but tried playing bass in the studio and you wouldn't believe how difficult it is to stay with the drums. Also, if you're playing live and strum the wrong chord it's no biggie (usually) try hitting a wrong bass note. The entore crowd will cringe. What most people think is a decent bass player is actually just some asshole guitar player who has a bass and plays the root note of every chord the guitar player plays. So maybe harder was a bad word choice, but at least just as hard as any other instrument.
