I've seen Gojira, Mastodon, Meshuggah and hundreds of bands live. They are pretty cool, but definitely not god-tier in any way.

Honestly dude, we could have forgiven them for sounding like crap that day; but the kicker was that they just didn't give a shit.
We're both die hard Amon Amarth fans, the stadium barely had 25% capacity and they played just as good as a private show, worked the crowd, put their soul into it. Mastodon takes the stage with the stadium like 50% full and they ignored everybody.
If it wasn't for the huge tapestry they had behind them, you wouldn't even know it was Mastodon, no announcements, no crowd working, nothing. They kind of just shit on everyone.
It was a betrayal, it ruined the band for both of us.

I kinda like the "magic" that sometimes kicks in when a special vibe starts (like a good ol' "monstrance clock" at the end of a gig). But overall, I find the music kinda weak, dull and boring.
