i am a big guy, i carry a 4 inch 6 shot .38 revolver,,,i dont live in a war zone, nor a gang controlled area,,,even though its "big" it doesnt print, i wear with an inside waistband holster, i can ride a bike while carrying and its not unconfortable.
the weight makes it shoot really nice, very little recoil,
and its blue, (black), makes it not stand out, and when you do have to pull it, having those hollowpoints facing directly towards you has a strong psicological factor, ive been cornered like 3 times, were i have to pull it, never had to fire.

I used to have a North American Arms .22 magnum that had a notch in the cylinder BETWEEN the chambers. You could rest the hammer in this notch as a safety. MAYBE that's what this guy is talking about. It was a single action only revolver, not a double action.
